ABC’s highly anticipated new procedural, 9-1-1: Nashville, is dropping this October. Fans are buzzing even harder now that they’ve roped in Gregory Alan Williams, MacKenzie Porter, and Tim Matheson for some recurring roles.
So, what’s the scoop? Here’s the lowdown as of now.
Gegory Alan Williams, MacKenzie Porter, and Tim Matheson join 9-1-1: Nashville

In a significant role update, as per Deadline, Gregory Alan Williams (The Righteous Gemstones), MacKenzie Porter (Hell on Wheels), and Tim Matheson (Virgin River) will be joining the ranks as significantly recurring cast in the forthcoming drama 9-1-1: Nashville on ABC.
Gregory Alan Williams will reportedly portray the role of Harold Foster, who has a certain mysterious background and ties to the first-responder community of Nashville, which can be a source of some interesting plot lines as the action progresses.
MacKenzie Porter joins as Samantha Hart, a character who has a pre-existing relationship with the main Sharpe family and, thus, the larger set of drama in the main firehouse. It will help bring flavor to its family relationship drama and emotional journey.
Tim Matheson is recruited to play Edward and lends his many decades of dramatic experience to the spinoff. Other details about the nature of the character are still under wraps, but the appearance of Matheson should add a lot of depth to the relationship network of adults in the show and the leaders.
The three actors also have been added to the regular cast, who already include the likes of Chris O'Donnell (as Captain Don Sharpe), Jessica Capshaw (as Blythe Sharpe), Michael Provost (as Ryan Sharpe), Hailey Kilgore (as Taylor), Juani Feliz (as Roxie), Hunter McVey (as Blue), LeAnn Rimes (as Dixie), and Kimberly Williams-Paisley (as Cammie).
The casting announcement is especially timely, with the show gearing up to launch on October 9, 2025, on ABC, with the added excitement of any 9-1-1 viewer. ABC has gone a step further to tease appearances of some of the prominent guest stars, such as country music superstar Kane Brown, who will make a cameo in the first episode.
What is 9-1-1: Nashville?
An offshoot of the long-standing 9-1-1 franchise, 9-1-1: Nashville lands the franchise's heart-pounding emergencies and challenging personal lives in a new location. It is produced along with 9-1-1 creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, joined by Rashad Raisani and executive producer Angela Bassett to guarantee the show retains the same amount of high-stakes and authenticity of procedural drama that viewers have come to anticipate.
The action of 9-1-1: Nashville unfolds in Music City, where the careers and personal lives of the first responders are presented and described: local firefighters, EMTs, and 911 operators. Set against the rich backdrop of the city of legends with an unrivaled music scene, the series will deliver a variable mixture of action-filled rescues and emotional stories of family dynamics.
Captain Don Sharpe, played by Chris O'Donnell, is the head of the firehouse and the father of Ryan (Michael Provost), and establishes the family-centered themes of this show.
The matriarch, Blythe Sharpe (Jessica Capshaw), and Dixie Bennings, mother of Blue (Hunter McVey), played by LeAnn Rimes, make the narrative more emotionally broad.
Give-and-take characters such as Hailey Kilgore as a musically talented firefighter, Taylor, and Juani Feliz as adrenaline-crazed former trauma surgeon Roxie set 9-1-1: Nashville to cash in on the unique location and interpersonal relationships.
