In an interview with The Wrap, Hunter McVey gives some interesting insights about the destiny of his character, Blue. He says, “Blue is meant to be where he’s at in this moment”. In the fifth episode of 9-1-1: Nashville, Blue is finally ready to take the test to get his official green signal to join his father’s team of first responders.

However, the discovery of the photo album was taking a toll on his mind. During the test, he gets distracted constantly and reminisces about the lies that his parents told him. Don and Dixie’s words have no impact on him, and he refuses to complete the test. He then returned to his old work as a stripper.

However, before he is able to join his job, his helpful nature prevents him from proceeding. He sees a drunk woman going towards her car. Blue tries to prevent her from driving in an intoxicated state; however, she does not pay any heed to his words. Blue then decides to follow the woman in his car so that she is not able to cause any accident.

The woman was almost about to hit a group of school students when Blue’s protective instinct made him bring his car in front of the woman’s, who then crashed her car into his. Blue’s car tumbles and then catches fire. However, before something dangerous could have happened, Don and his team arrived at the location and saved him.

Despite knowing that doing such a dangerous task would put his life in jeopardy, he did not stop. It only depicts that helping people is truly what he wants to do. Hunter McVey rightfully points out that there is nothing “more important to him than helping people”.
