9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 Episode 2 recap - Blythe's suspicion and Don's fate

9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 brings forth a layer of complications right from the get-go. The first episode does not take time to set the stage for a rollercoaster ride with a high-stakes situation. In the first episode of 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1, we see the team of first responders reach the location of the concert. Their goal is to rescue the people from the twister.

The twister was quickly approaching the stage. They began to take the people to safety when Don noticed a man stuck on the top part of the stage. He calls Blue and Ryan to accompany him so that they are able to rescue him. However, the storm almost reaches them, and the episode ends. The second episode starts right from this cliffhanger.

Blythe's suspicion and Don's fate in 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 episode 2

In the first episode of 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1, we see that Blue joins the team of first responders. On the surface, his arrival in Don’s life appears to be his desire to be closer to his father; however, Blue’s mother had other plans for the whole situation. It is revealed that Blue’s mother, Dixie, wants Blue to get closer to Don so that he can get money from them for her surgery.

Though Blue initially tried to support his mother, he understood that his activities were not right. When he voices his opinions to his mother, she quickly manipulates him into doing what they had planned. Ryan also informed Blythe about Blue joining the team. In the second episode, we see that Blythe is supportive of Blue’s joining the team, but she worries that there might be some involvement from Dixie.

She reaches the station to speak to Don about her worries about Dixie. However, Don reassures her and tells her not to worry. Blythe then decides to speak to Dixie on her own. She reaches Dixie’s studio, and they have a heated argument. She warns her to stay away from Don. Blythe might not be able to prove Dixie’s ulterior motives, but her intuitions are definitely taking her in the right direction.

The plot thickens further when Ryan’s wife reaches the station to give her divorce papers. It can be understood that their relationship is not in the right state. This episode takes matters even further when the team is faced with yet another challenging rescue. Another storm arrives, and this time, a man gets stuck on a water tower. With the storm soaring high, rescuing the man was becoming more and more difficult.

However, in the end, the team is able to safely rescue the man. They then rush him to the hospital for treatment. After the success of the mission, Ryan hugs Don. The scene cuts to Blue. We are able to see Blue’s disheartened face. It can be understood that Blue also wishes to have a healthy relationship with his father. The episode almost gives us a happy ending when disaster strikes once again. 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1, episode 2 ends with Don’s fate hanging by a thread.

Just as the team was about to leave, Don was struck by lightning. The lighting passes through his heart, which is undoubtedly a dangerous thing. They take him to the hospital, where Sam tells Ryan that she will be trying her best to help Don. The episode ends with a grim tone. It ends with the question about Don’s survival.

There is a distinct level of power and emotion through this episode of 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1. This series is undoubtedly bringing forth an intricate family drama along with the high-stakes missions.
