Cyberattack and Edward's feud with Don in 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1
9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 Episode 6 begins with the introduction of Blythe’s father, Edward Raleigh, as he speaks about his distillery. A group of visitors is present at the location tasting the wines. However, one of the visitors gets extremely drunk and hurts himself. Soon, the whole place turns into chaos, as all of them come to get medical help for the injured person.
It is then revealed that while falling down, the person broke one of the valves of the machinery, which led to the distillery setting on fire. Don and his team promptly arrive at the location of the distillery. The fire is already blazing and creating a difficult situation for the rescuers. Cammie informs Don that the fire is moving towards the fermentation room. The room contains two 950-gallon vats of extremely flammable sour mash.

If the flames hit the room, it could be like a bomb blast. Hence, Don needs to think fast to control the fire before it causes further damage. However, their problems worsen when the water hydrant stops working. Don asks to route water to the main lines. As the backup team was taking too much time to arrive at the location, Don decided to drain the vats to prevent the fire from causing further damage. Right at that moment, Don’s father-in-law, Edward, arrives.
He tries to stop Don from draining the vats, but he does not listen. They successfully stop the fire and return to the station. Back at the station, Ryan and Don speak about Don’s actions and his troubles with Edward. On the other hand, Cammie faces quite some trouble when a team arrives from Haynes and Frears to help Emergency Services run more smoothly.
It raises Cammie’s team’s concern about getting fired. Don gets a call from the chief, who informs him about the major cuts that are supposed to happen in the department, and only Don’s father-in-law can help them in this situation with funding.
As this episode of 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 progresses, Don decides to speak with Edward about the funding. Edward comes to their house, and they begin their discussion, with Blyther also joining them to maintain peace. Edward begins to blame Don for draining the vats and asks Don to apologize. However, Don does not do so. He then informs them that he is aware of Don’s motives and has two demands in exchange for the funding.
One of his demands is to always get a seat at their table, and another is wanting Don to admit that his call to drain the vats was motivated by malice. Don accepts both demands. However, Edward adds another demand. He says that he wants Blue to get fired. This angers Don, causing Edward to leave. On the other hand, Cammie and her team face constant criticism from the team of Haynes and Frears as they tell them to become quicker with their calls.
Don asks Edward to meet him, and he begins to discuss the offer Edward made. Don gives Edward a counteroffer. He tells him that he will have to save the jobs of all the firefighters in town, including Blue’s, because he knows about the dry hydrants. He continues that if they had contained enough water, they would have easily put down the fire in no time.
However, with the renovation that Edward did to the distillery two years ago, he has been stealing water in order to boost production. Don also tells Edwards that if he revealed this, along with the real estate issues that Edwards created, things would not be good for him. This episode of 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 ends with Don seeing his computer getting a pirate flag. Even the other first responders also get a similar virus on their communication devices.

Don informs them that they have been hacked. On the other hand, Blythe gets a tornado notification. Soon, a siren gets activated, which causes the horse that Blythe was riding to get scared. Blythe falls down from the horse and falls on the barbed wire. The ending of 9-1-1: Nashville season 1, with Nashville falling into chaos because of the cyberattack.
