The Big Bang Theory introduced us to this nerdy and awkward group of friends, namely, Howard (Simon Helberg), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). While brilliant in their respective professions, all of them lacked one kind or another other social norms.

For instance, Raj and Howard have contrasting personalities but still tend to make people around them uncomfortable. Raj is the one who initially couldn’t talk to women without being drunk, and even when he begins talking confidently, he still struggles to make good conversation. On the other hand, Howard always says something weirdly inappropriate that makes others sometimes cringe or sometimes uncomfortable.

9) Raj and Howard, and the Goth girls (Season 3, Episode 3)

Most of the funny moments with Raj and Howard, in earlier seasons of The Big Bang Theory, come from when they try to talk to girls. In the episode titled, The Gothowitz Deviation, go to a goth club, dressed in all black with heavy eyeliner and fake tattoo sleeves.

They even drink vodka with cranberry juice as it looks like blood. That’s not all, as the boys, in an attempt to impress the goth girls in the club, mention working with dark matter and liking goth food. Most of the time, they try to incorporate s*xual jokes into their conversation, which either the girls ignore or find confusing. But still, they invite the two to come with them as the club was boring. Their excitement is cut short when the girls, rather than taking them to their home, take them to a tattoo parlour.


8) Howard and Raj use geometric progression to explain why Leonard’s relationships don’t last (Season 2, Episode 9)

In The Big Bang Theory episode titled, The White Asparagus Triangulation, we get to see the dynamic duo explain to Sheldon mathematically how Leonard’s relationship with women is.

As he goes to them for advice to save Leonard and Stephanie’s relationship, they both point out with a geometrical progression on how Leonard’s relationship with Joyce only lasted for 27 days. Raj tells them his relationship with Penny lasted over a three-hour dinner, and by geometric progression, his relationship with Stephanie should have lasted for only 20 minutes.

They further advise that the only way for their relationship to survive is if they kill all the other men on Earth or use a little less cologne, which does not help Sheldon in saving the relationship but turns into a comic moment.


7) Howard helps Raj on his date with Emily (Season 5, Episode 4)

In the episode titled, The Wiggly Finger Catalyst, Penny introduces Raj to a deaf girl, Emily, as he won’t need alcohol to talk to her. Since Howard knows sign language, he helps Raj out in talking to Emily to a great extent.

During their date, Raj, in an attempt to impress Emily, says some pretty weird and uneasy stuff, which, thanks to Howard, don’t reach Emily as he tells her different and toned down things from what Raj attempted to say. With Howard’s help, Raj impresses Emily, who asks him to text her at the end of their date.


6) Raj checks on Howard’s mom after her breakup (Season 6, Episode 15)

In this episode of The Big Bang Theory, we get to see how Raj is a considerate friend and how Howard trusts him with his family. As Howard and Bernadette are travelling to Las Vegas for a conference, Howard asks Raj to check on his mother once.

He tells Raj that she was a little depressed after her breakup with the Dentist and asks him to visit her once. Initially, Raj complains about how it was a Saturday night, the party night for single men like him, and doesn’t want to spoil it. However, he ends up visiting and having dinner with her. She also makes him stay for the night, after which Howard asks him to get away from his house, or his mother will try to guilt him into staying in her house.


5) Raj becomes Halley’s godfather (Season 10, Episode 11)

While the episode initially was not a good one for Raj after he revealed the gender of Bernadette and Howard’s baby while they were trying to keep it a secret. However, it displayed one of the heartwarming moments between Raj and Howard when he announces that Raj would be the baby’s Godfather after informing about her birth.

Raj finds himself over ecstatic at the fact that he now has a dog and a godchild.


4) Raj and Howard fight in the bounce house (Season 11, Episode 11)

After the BFFs break up their friendship as Raj, encouraged by his father, begins to look at Howard’s jokes as offensive and mean. In The Big Bang Theory episode titled, The Celebration Reverberation, Howard ends up asking for help from Raj to plan Halley’s first birthday.

Raj throws a perfect party, but Howard isn’t happy and thinks the party wasn’t good enough, which enrages Raj. The two later continue their fight in the fake Wonder Woman bounce house, which instantly cools off their anger, and they begin enjoying it, finally bringing the two best friends together.


3) Raj and Howard make their own band (Season 9, Episode 4)

The Big Bang Theory episode titled, The 2003 Approximation, introduced us to a new talent of BFF Raj and Howard. In this episode, their iconic band, Footprints on the Moon, was created, and the besties checked a longtime wish they had: to be a part of a band.

From their music genre called filk music, which would include folk music with a sci-fi undertone, to their rapport while writing songs, which seemed like they had been writing songs together for ages, revealed a different side of them, and also how can we forget about their impeccable talent with Piano and guitar.


2) Howard and Bernadette give a heartfelt gift to Raj (Season 5, Episode 20)

From getting him dates to being his bandmate, Howard has always been there for Raj on many occasions throughout The Big Bang Theory. After many attempts at finding a date to take with him to Bernadette and Howard’s wedding, Raj chooses for his parents to find him a match.

They connect him with Lakshmi, who later turns out to be a lesbian, leaving Raj alone once again. At the end of the episode, Howard and Bernadette gift him a little puppy, which is named Cinnamon, to Raj to help him get over his loneliness.


1) Howard stops Raj at the Airport (Season 12, Episode 22)

This episode has one of the most iconic scenes in Raj and Howard’s friendship in The Big Bang Theory. In the episode titled, The Maternal Conclusion, Raj plans on leaving California and going to London to propose to Anu, which shocks Howard.

After being convinced by Bernadette to stop Raj from leaving California, Howard goes to the airport and asks his best friend if he really wants to go to London and be with Anu or stay with his friends in California, who love him dearly. As we all know, Raj is the rom-com guy in the group; this scene fits him well, while also giving us one of the most iconic scenes of the series.
