The Will Trent star, Jake McLaughlin, who plays Detective Michael Ormewood, had a serious health issue in the Season 3 finale episodes, health-wise. It was discovered in the ultimate episodes of Season 3 that Ormewood had a brain tumour that might be affecting his capability to do his job.
Jake McLaughlin, in a recent interview with Screen Rant, revealed that it was a very heavy storyline where he had to portray Ormewood finding out he has a brain tumour, and suffering from a brain seizure.
McLaughlin also revealed how this diagnosis was an open-ended storyline for his character on Will Trent. Here's everything he said about this narrative and its effect on his character's future.
Jake McLaughlin on Ormewood's brain tumour track and what it means for his future on Will Trent

The Will Trent Season 3 finale episode was very heavy in more ways than one. Detective Michael Ormewood is shockingly diagnosed with a brain tumour in this episode, and when he finds out this shocking information, he faints, resulting in a brain seizure.
The montage of scenes where Ormewood finds about about his shocking diagnosis and has a seizure shortly after was a difficult series of scenes for the actor to portray. Jack McLaughlin played his character's reactions very realistically, his only aim being to make sure that the scenes were realistic:
"It's a little heavy. It's a heavier storyline. I always try to play things as realistically as possible and try to play out how I would react in those situations, and then try to apply it to the character in a way."
Ormewood finding out he has a brain tumour and having a seizure, leaves his future very open-ended for the next season. McLaughlin's character is all set to return for the next season of Will Trent, so there shouldn't be any Grey's Anatomy-level trauma for the viewers:
"So there are heavier scenes when I find out I have the tumor, and then in the end of the finale in this episode, there's the very last scene that I have in this season, and that's kind of an open-ended storyline there."

However, Ormewood might be forced to step back from his job and focus on his health. Since his vision is being affected as a result of the tumour, he will have to consider his next steps carefully. This might also be Ormewood's chance to step away from the job and focus on his health and his two kids, Cooper and Max.
McLaughlin talked about his experience of playing out these scenes, describing his process behind such scenes. He revealed that he likes to play such scenes as realistically as possible, and he does that by taking inspiration from real-life experiences:
"Because I've seen two people have seizures before, and both of them were kind of different, and neither one of them were because of a brain tumor. So I kind of had to find, I guess, a happy medium. And hopefully I didn't do any disservice to anyone that's had seizures due to a brain tumor. I'm hoping it looks realistic."
It will be interesting to witness how Will Trent tackles Michael Ormewood's diagnosis and his decisions about his future in Season 4.
