Gen V Season 2 will soon hit the screens after a long gap of two years. The Boys spin-off revolves around a group of young adult supes who undergo training at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting.
Due to its shared universe with The Boys, any major event in the original series affects the spin-off. Between the release of Gen V Seasons 1 and 2, Prime Video also released the penultimate season of the mothership series, which saw Homelander rising in power in the US.
Actor Hamish Linklater, who has joined the Gen V Season 2 cast as Dean Cipher, has now revealed how the events of The Boys Season 4 will have a massive impact on the spin-off’s narrative. He said in an interview with TV Insider:
“Yeah, I play Dean Cipher. That name should inspire a great deal of confidence in everyone. He’s the new Dean, and a lot has changed at Godolkin University since Season 1. We’re now in Homelander’s [Antony Starr] America, right? And he’s a Dean for that America.”
Gen V Season 2 team talks about the shift in the show’s narrative
During the interview, Hamish Linklater was joined by showrunner Michele Fazekas, who also talked about how Gen V Season 2 is going to be different from the previous chapter. Confirming that there will be a time jump between seasons, the showrunner said:
“Yeah, there’s a time jump. And everyone starts in a completely different place, and they’re not all together… They’re in a place that we have been told in Season 1 [is] the last place you should want to go, which is called Elmira… Some of them end up there, but not all of them.”
The trailer for the upcoming season has teased that the main characters will be waking up at a facility where their powers will be restricted using special bands. When they finally return to Godkin, they realize how the entire fabric of the university has changed under the leadership of the new dean, Cipher, played by Linklater. The dean believes that supes should rule over humans and organizes arenas at the university where the supes fight each other.
The returning cast members in Gen V Season 2 include Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, Asa Germann as Samuel "Sam" Riordan, London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan Li, and Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer/Little Cricket.
Unfortunately, Andre Anderson will not be seen in the show due to actor Chance Perdomo’s untimely death. Shelley Conn will also not return as Indira Shetty since the character’s story ended in the first season.
Meanwhile, The Boys is preparing to launch its fifth and final season next year. The show recently wrapped filming, and the creators have teased that the ending will be bittersweet.
Gen V Season 2 will premiere on Prime Video on September 17, 2025.
