"A lot harder than it looks": The Challenge star CT confesses to being "out of shape" during the Mud Ball Madness challenge

The Challenge Season 41 premiered on July 30, 2025. The debut episode of the competition show featured the Mud Ball Madness challenge. Contestants were paired in twos while they went through the first challenge.

Five-time champion CT was paired with rookie Tay. In an exclusive video clip released by Entertainment Weekly on July 30, 2025, CT could be seen struggling during the first challenge. He confessed that he was completely "gassed" and that it was a lot harder.

"Getting up that hill is a lot harder than it looks. I'm completely gassed, and it's not getting any easier. I look like a baby trying to crawl for the first time. And what's worse is that Tay doesn't even look like she's winded at all," confessed CT.

The Challenge Season 41: CT and Johnny Bananas open up about struggles during the Mud Ball Madness challenge

The first episode of The Challenge Season 41 featured Mud Ball Madness. For that, competitors were paired with their partners. They were joined from the waist by chains. The task was to find and collect balls from the huge mud pit.

Initially, participants faced issues while syncing their walk and steps with their partners. However, soon they started to collect the balls. One of the pairs was CT with Tay. Another pair was Johnny Bananas with Dee.

While collecting balls and going back and forth on the muddy hill, CT faced some issues. He could also be seen sliding down and unable to climb up the hill during the challenge.

Opening up about the struggles he faced, CT told the cameras that it was "a lot harder" than it looked. He confessed that him trying to climb the hill with muddy surroundings, looking like a baby trying to crawl.

Seeing her partner struggling to keep up, Tay asked CT how he was doing.

"I'm out of shape," responded CT.

He also confessed that with such struggles, he wasn't thinking about winning. But his goal was not to come last.

"But it's not looking good for your boy," he said.

On the other hand, Johnny Bananas, who was partnered up with Dee Valladares, was busy collecting balls during the challenge. While doing that, he witnessed how CT was struggling. Johnny stated that it was "hard to watch" CT's struggles.

"Listen, it was a very tough first challenge. A lot of people were struggling with that, but I mean, we're not getting younger. He and I have been doing the same for a long time, but we're not used to going straight into a challenge, so I think we're a little bit caught off guard by that."

Johnny Bananas added that it was "never good" to see one of the vets struggling. He also talked about how it was quite unexpected in each challenge, and no one could know what might happen.
