A Man on the Inside Season 2 is set to be released on November 20, 2025, and the official trailer has been released. While last season followed Charles Nieuwendyk going undercover at the Pacific View Retirement Community, this season he will be solving a case on a college campus.

The trailer for A Man on the Inside Season 2 begins with Charles being frustrated with the same kinds of cases he gets assigned to as a P.I., and hoping for something exciting. That's when the President of Wheeler College, Jack Beringer, asks Julie Kovalenko for help in finding his laptop that was stolen. Why is a laptop so important that Beringer has to hire a P.I.? As the trailer reveals,

"This laptop is worth $400 million."

The trailer reveals that someone has stolen Jack Beringer's priceless laptop and is blackmailing him, but no one knows the blackmailer's identity. Since this laptop is of immense value, Charles is hired as the P.I. for this case. He goes undercover at Wheeler College as a new professor, and every faculty member ends up on his suspect list. Brad Vinick, who is now a billionaire and a Wheeler College alumnus, might be on that list, too.

Amid all the work, there is some play for Charles, too, as he begins to like Mona, a music teacher. This is an interesting plotline given how much Charles' wife's death had affected him and how he never thought of moving on after her demise. Mona might help him find happiness again. However, she also ends up being someone Charles suspects of being the blackmailer. What starts as a job is going to get a lot more personal and complicated. Season 2 will show how Charles finds the real culprit among the numerous suspects without blowing his cover. According to Deadline, the synopsis for Season 2 states,

Eager to take on another big undercover case, Charles Nieuwendyk (Ted Danson) gets his chance when a mysterious blackmailer targets Wheeler College president Jack Berenger (Max Greenfield), who enlists Charles to go undercover as a professor. Who’s making these threats? Does it have something to do with the iconoclastic billionaire Brad Vinick (Gary Cole), a Wheeler graduate, and his proposed donation to the school?
