It's no easy feat for a show to achieve a 100% aggregate score from critics, even after more than half of the season's episodes have premiered, but it seems Apple TV's Platonic has accomplished that. The Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne duo continues to deliver an unmatched performance in the sophomore season of the Apple TV show.
Rogan's Will and Byrne's Sylvia share an incredible bond and rapport on and off the screen, which continues to delight the audience and break all expectations of a romantic relationship between their characters.
Platonic stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne share incredible chemistry on and off the screen
Apple TV's Platonic is not the first time that Rogen and Byrne have worked together, as they've previously worked in the Neighbors films with each other and Nicholas Stoller, co-creator of the Apple TV show. The on-screen chemistry that the duo shares is not new to the audience, but exploring the non-sexual platonic relationship between the two on-screen was a new setting.

To nobody's surprise, Rogen and Byrne perfectly emulated the chemistry and rapport between the platonic friends who've found each other again years after a rift.
Rogen and Byrne recently engaged in a hilarious game of "Stuff It" for Apple TV, where the duo was tasked with filling a school bag with a multitude of items that had been laid down for them.
In perfect Will and Sylvia fashion, Rogen cracks a joke before starting, which leaves Byrne laughing. He looks at the desk covered in front of them with different items, from soft toys to books and food, and calls it:
"Whoa. Looks like the props table from an episode of Law and Order SVU."
The challenge starts, and Rogen continues to make Byrne laugh throughout with his running commentary:
"This is a particularly small book bag. Oh, I should have done the books first. I blew it."

The challenge is a short one, but it is a clear look at the rapport that the two share. One of the creators of Platonic, in a conversation with Forbes, talks about how they cast Rogen and Byrne, revealing that they had the duo in mind but talked to Byrne first.
"so, when we were figuring out Platonic, the first person we wanted to go to for Sylvia was Rose. We went to her and asked if she was into the idea."
When Rose agreed, the next step was to cast someone for Will's role. Stoller reveals that it was Rose herself who suggested that they should approach Rogen. Even though the creators had Rogen in mind for the role, him being a film actor, they weren't sure if we would want to do TV.
However, when Rogen found out that Rose was cast for the role in Platonic, it didn't take long for him to agree as well. He was quoted saying:
"So we went to Seth. I wasn’t sure if he wanted to do TV and he was instantly like, “Oh, Rose is doing it? Yeah, let’s do it!” So it was a very swift process. We felt very lucky."
The fact that Rogen and Byrne were set to play characters who shared a deep relationship, depended on each other, were important to each other, but were still platonic and not involved romantically, meant that the non-s*xual bond presented by the characters needed to be the most convincing part of it all.
For Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, however, this just came easily, as explained by Stoller:
"they have such incredible chemistry. It’s one of those things that you just hope will happen between your leads. I think they felt it too on those Neighbors movies. No one really cracks Seth up more than Rose. They really find each other delightful."
So, even though Rogen filled up the bag first in their game of "Stuff It", the winner was Platonic, in gaining the best possible duo to play Sylvia and Will.
