FUBAR Season 1 premiered on Netflix on May 25, 2023, and after a wait of two years, the action-comedy is coming back with its second season. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro as father-daughter duo Luke and Emma, FUBAR Season 1 ended with them discovering their secret identities as CIA agents.
Season 1 showed that Luke was on the verge of retirement and rescuing another operative was his last mission. This operative, who goes by the code name Panda, turned out to be Emma, Luke’s daughter.
The father and daughter are both shocked at this revelation, and while it is clear that they both have lied to each other about their identities and have a lot to process, they keep that all aside and work together to deal with a powerful arms dealer, Boro Polonia.
As FUBAR Season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on June 12, 2025, this is a good time for a quick recap of season 1.
Luke and Emma’s identities get revealed at the end of FUBAR Season 1
In the FUBAR Season 1 finale, as Luke is tasked with the responsibility to rescue Emma, she and Boro are shown to be trapped together. Both of them are convinced they will die in an explosion, and Emma promises Boro that if they manage to get out, they will go their different ways.
However, that plan does not work out as Luke enters the scene. As he rescues Emma, he also kills Boro as he believes that if he gets out, he would come after them. While Luke and Emma think that they have seen the last of Boro, unfortunately that is not the case. Badly burnt, Boro gets out, and making Luke’s fear come true, he reveals Emma and Luke’s identity to the public.
Toward the end of Season 1, Emma and Luke realize that they are in a lot of trouble as their identities are now known to all the terrorists they have ever dealt with. This means they and everyone they know have to flee. As Luke and his team of CIA operatives and extended family members get in a van to escape, it becomes clear that these people have to start over completely without having any access to anything belonging to their past lives, including bank accounts.
The ending sets up an interesting premise for FUBAR Season 2 as the characters will have to navigate unknown territories and build their lives from scratch. Moreover, as everyone close to Luke and Emma is shown to be getting into that van, it means that the characters will also have to deal with complex relationships since both Luke and Emma’s partners are also present there.
FUBAR can be streamed on Netflix.
