Carr wants to rebuild The Forty Elephants, a ruthless all-female crime gang. She is planning a huge heist and needs help from Sugar Goodson. On the other hand, Goodson is trying to close his violent chapter in life and is determined to live a clean life. Hezekiah is still mourning his brother's death and wants revenge.

Season 1 of A Thousand Blows showcases two Jamaican immigrants, Hezekiah and Moscow, who arrived in London in the 1880s, and their fate intertwines with the brutal world of bare-knuckle boxing and crime. Hezekiah has extraordinary boxing talent and attracts Mary Carr's attention. Carr is shown to be a powerful leader of an all-female gang named The Forty Elephants.
