Season two, parts one and two of Wednesday, were released on Netflix on 6th August and 3rd September, respectively. Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen, who was seen in both seasons one and two of the show, is Gomez Addams' brother and has electrokinetic powers.

He was first introduced in season one and then played a significant role in season two's storyline. At the end of season two, we saw Wednesday leave Nevermore with Uncle Fester in his sidecar to look for her close friend, Enid Sinclair, who has now turned into an alpha werewolf and cannot turn back to her human state.

Thus, we know Uncle Fester will play a bigger role in season three, but Fred Armisen has also recently confirmed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that a spin-off about Uncle Fester is in the works.

Uncle Fester will have his own Wednesday spin-off

Uncle Fester is a classic character of the Addams family and was first described as Morticia's uncle in The Addams Family sitcom (1964–1966). However, in the projects since 1970, he has been portrayed mostly as Gomez's brother, which became the more popular description of the character.

Uncle Fester was first played on screen by Jackie Coogan in the television series The Addams Family (1964–1966). Some other actors who have portrayed the character are Christopher Lloyd (from 1991 to 1993), Michael Roberds (from 1989 to 1999), and now Fred Armisen (since 2022).

After Uncle Fester was seen in Wednesday season two, he would be seen in a spin-off about him, as confirmed by Fred Armisen. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Armisen and Fallon discussed the success of Wednesday and Armisen's new album, which is coming out soon. Amidst all the conversation, Jimmy Fallon asked him,

"And I heard there might be talk of a spin-off of Uncle Fester?"

Armisen simply answered,

"Yeah."

As Fallon asked a follow-up question,

"You're getting your own jam?"

Armisen replied,

"Yeah. Yeah it's fantastic. It's amazing."

So, now we know that a spin-off about Armisen's Uncle Fester is in the works. No information about the creative team has been revealed yet. But it is likely going to have a darker portrayal of Fester compared to his portrayal on Wednesday because of what the show's co-creator, Al Gough, told Tudum. Gough said that season three of the show will be the

“darkest chapter of the Addams family”

While he could mean only the storyline about Hester Frump and her daughter Ophelia, whom she has kept hidden away in her mansion's basement, the comment could also extend to the rest of the Addams Family, including Fester.

Uncle Fester has a unique relationship with Wednesday and is someone she trusts deeply. In season two, he willingly took admission to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital to investigate on behalf of his niece about who LOIS was. His investigation led to the revelation that LOIS was not a person but an abbreviation for a program called Long-term Outcast Integration Study.

The program was run by Augustus Fairburn's daughter, Judi Airburn, who faked the death of outcasts so that she could keep them imprisoned and conduct experiments on them. Uncle Fester wasn't seen in the rest of the season after he caused a blackout in the hospital and escaped. He was again seen at the very end of the season when he and Wednesday left Nevermore to look for Enid.

Uncle Fester has been an extremely interesting character till now, and it will be interesting to learn more about him in the spin-off. No information about the cast or storyline has been revealed either, but it'll most likely be a Netflix series. Stay tuned for more articles.
