Shrinking star Luke Tennie will be starring in Abbott Elementary

As season five's teaser trailer states, the sitcom will return for its fifth season on 1st October 2025. Following season four, season five will be a fresh new year of school. Since there were no cliffhangers at the end of season four, we're yet to know what the show will explore, but based on last season's events, we can expect to see more of Ava and O'shon as they explore their relationship. Besides that, it'll be interesting to see the new ways in which the teachers try to make each day exciting despite having to work with a very tight budget.

The original cast, including Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, and William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, are returning for season five. Matthew Law, who played O'Shon in season four, will also be returning for season five.

As Deadline reports, Shrinking star, Luke Tennie is joing the show for its fifth season in a recurring role, as a new teacher named Dominic. Nothing else is known about Tennie's new character, but he is set to appear in the season premiere of Abbott Elementary.

Tennie's character, Sean, has anger issues and is a patient of therapist, Jimmy Laird at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center. Luke Tennie is also known for playing Griff in Nickel Boys, Bryan Roby in CSI: Vegas, Marcus in The Justice, and Rudy Elmore Jr. in Players.

Abbott Elementary is created by Quinta Brunson, who stars as a lead, and is also an executive producer on the show.
