Abbott Elementary is up for another crossover with Philly sports, as a new episode has been shot at a live event. It's not just another day at the job as the elementary school teachers don their fan costumes and shift to the Philadelphia Phillies' latest baseball game.

This is not the first time Philly sports have been represented on the show; however, it is the first time that the cast moved to the grounds instead of the players making a cameo on the show.

Here's everything we know about the live episode taping before Abbott Elementary Season 5 premieres.

Abbott Elementary X Phillies Phanatic for a live taping of an episode for Season 5

Quinta Brunson, star and creator of Abbott Elementary, had previously hinted at a live episode taping for the new season at the San Diego Comic-Con. She teased this taping by saying that the Philly sports fans would be very happy with the live event filming that the show had in store.

Abbott Elementary is known for its crossovers and its never-ending, well-rewarded attempts to keep the show fresh every season. This season, their way to make fans happy is an episode filmed at the Phillies' live baseball game.

This is not the first time that Abbott Elementary pays homage to the city's sports franchises by including a crossover with the iconic players, as they are known for the love they show to the city's teams. There have been cameos on video call for career day from popular players such as Jason Kelce, Jalen Hurts, and Brandon Graham in the Season 3 premiere, and the team even brought their Super Bowl trophy on the set for the sports fans on the show.

The show also included a hilarious storyline with the well-known Philadelphia Flyers' mascot, Gritty, who comes to the elementary school and surprises the children. However, for the first time, the cast of Abbott Elementary moves off the set and onto the grounds for a live event, single-location shoot.

The confirmation regarding the cast's appearance in the game came through an official Instagram post on the 'philliephanatic' Instagram account, where the cast posed with the iconic mascot on the field. Quinta Brunson, Lisa Ann Walter, Tyler Chris Perfetti, Matthew Law, James Williams, Janelle James, William Stanford Davis, and Sheryl Lee Ralph posing with the Phillies mascot, the Phillie Phanatic.

Turns out, the cast's appearance on the team was also equally great for the Philadelphia home team, as they won the game 19-4. One fan even went on to make a hilarious comment that the cast should be at every Phillies match to keep the winning streak going.

MLB Studios revealed in an official statement how the live filming event came to be when they said:

"As big fans of the series, MLB Studios initiated outreach to Warner Brothers and subsequently the Phillies to get the shooting process started. Collaboration between MLB Studios, the Phillies and the show commenced to shoot a bottle episode on-location at a Phillies game, with a goal of ensuring authenticity and access to the field."

This episode will be a part of the fifth season's catalogue for Abbott Elementary, which is set to premiere on ABC on Wednesday, October 1.
