Nick, Emily’s ex-husband and an FBI agent, tries to keep her safe. Both he and Emily believe a crooked FBI agent is the real killer. Nick starts his own check into Agent Crown. Nick discovers proof that the Crown lied about where he was that night. This makes him think Crown left the office early when Harlow was killed. This small finding makes Nick suspicious of his own coworker.

FBI Agent Gibbs soon calls Nick with bad news. Video from security cameras shows Emily near Harlow's house at the time of the murder. Nick must tell Emily to come in for questioning.
