The Academy Awards have been televised in the US on Disney's ABC since 1976, but The Academy has decided to broadcast the Oscars event on a different platform from 2029. While it has been broadcasted on ABC for decades, from 2029, which would be the 101st Oscars, the event will be streamed live on YouTube and will be available for anyone and everyone for free. The Academy also made this announcement on Instagram with a post featuring an image of the lady in gold, along with the logo of YouTube beside it. ABC has had a long partnership with the organization, but now The Academy has decided to go with a different partner. Partnering with YouTube will also make the event available globally for everyone for free. Besides, the actual Academy Awards Ceremony isn't the only event that'll be streamed on YouTube from 2029. According to The Academy's press release,The Oscars, including red carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes content, Governors Ball access, and more, will be available live and for free to over 2 billion viewers around the world on YouTube, and to YouTube TV subscribers in the United States.
