After House of the Dragon, I really wish for another Game of Thrones spin-off based on a fan favourite character. Can you guess who I am talking about? Jon and Tyrion would be an easy guess, but I am rooting for a spin-off centring on young Olenna Tyrell. I believe this is the kind of story the franchise needs right now, rooted in political intricacies without dragon or dynasties dominating the narrative anymore.

Here is what a Game of Thrones prequel based on young Olenna Tyrell could be

It would, of course, be set 40β50 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follow the rise of a cunning young noblewoman, Olenna Redwyne. She deals with the sexist power structures of Westeros, especially within the Reach and the Tyrell family, and ultimately becomes the most feared political mind south of Casterly Rock.
Olenna is a perfect character for the next spin-off as she is not a warrior or a Targaryen but a strategist and survivor. Her dialogue in Game of Thrones alone hinted at decades of court intrigue, failed suitors, and calculated alliances. Her famous line, βTell Cersei. I want her to know it was me,β is the ultimate mic drop. Who wouldnβt want to see how she became this sharp?
Her formative years on the Arbour (House Redwyne), rejecting a match with Luthor Tyrellβs brother, claiming him a βfool,β only to seduce Luthor instead, was a great political move. After House Gardenerβs extinction, the growth of House Tyrell is slow, with Reach's politics still evolving. This could add layers to the story and the Game of Thrones world. Other intriguing scenes could be of her rivalries at the court and her early interactions with Tywin Lannister or other major houses.
What could be the tone of the Game of Thrones spin-off based on character Olenna?
The show indeed would be visually lush, with high society, poisoned banquets, whispered threats, and alliances forged over lemon cakes and veiled insults. It would portray a dark political dramedy that is smart, layered, and sharp-tongued.
It expands the franchise beyond war and dragons, showing Westeros from a womanβs perspective, therefore adding an absolutely fresh and more realistic take. Imagine Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, or Jessica Barden as young Olenna β it's already giving me chills. Seeing such actors portraying a character like Olenna, who doesnβt want a crown but power, and is willing to break the rules of love, marriage, and patriarchy to seize it, would be an experience.
