Hawkeye Season 2 could soon become a reality, as Jeremy Renner has dropped a strong hint about its return. In a new interview with Empire, Renner confirmed he’s ready to step back into Clint Barton’s shoes, saying,

"I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it."

His comments suggest that despite past delays and an earlier reported pay dispute, Hawkeye Season 2 is still in the cards. While Marvel Studios has not yet made any official announcement, Renner’s statement is the clearest update so far.

The last time fans saw Clint Barton was in the first season of Hawkeye, where Renner shared screen space with Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. Since then, rumors of budget issues and internal negotiations have clouded the future of Hawkeye Season 2. But Renner’s health recovery and personal commitment now seem to be clearing that path.

"My body’s getting ready for something like that," he told Empire, confirming his preparation.

The comments arrive at a time when fans are hoping to see the original Avenger return, especially with Marvel’s upcoming phase needing some familiar faces.

Renner’s return to discussions around Hawkeye Season 2 is significant. In 2023, the actor was seriously injured in a snowplow accident at his Lake Tahoe property, where he was caught beneath a 14,000-pound machine. After multiple surgeries and a long recovery process, his future in action roles remained uncertain. However, Renner says he’s now stronger than ever.

"I’m more than 150 per cent of what I was prior to the incident," he told Empire.

Renner added that fitness has become part of his daily life, not just a preparation for roles.

"Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back," he said. "Even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been."

According to Empire, Renner confirmed he could even perform his signature MCU move, leaping, spinning mid-air, and shooting an arrow, without issues.

"Absolutely. No problem," he said.

Hope for Hawkeye Season 2 and the MCU

Although Marvel has not released a statement about Hawkeye Season 2, Renner’s comments suggest active conversations may be underway. His willingness to return and his full recovery send a strong signal to both fans and studio heads.

Renner also expressed deep fondness for the MCU and his fellow cast members.

"I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character," he said.

With Kate Bishop already introduced, many fans see Hawkeye Season 2 as a perfect opportunity to develop both characters and continue their partnership.

The mention of “doing other things” hints that Renner’s involvement with Marvel may go beyond just one series. Whether it means cameos, crossover events, or films, Renner appears open to any direction the MCU might take Clint Barton next.

Pay disputes and Production delays

Earlier reports had indicated that a pay dispute may have been a factor in the delay of Hawkeye Season 2. While Renner did not directly address financial negotiations in this interview, industry sources in early 2024 had suggested that contract discussions between Marvel and lead actors were slowing progress on multiple shows.

The first season of Hawkeye received strong viewership numbers and fan engagement, especially for its holiday-themed release and the introduction of Kate Bishop. Despite that, the lack of early confirmation on a second season led to questions about behind-the-scenes disagreements, including pay-related delays.

Renner’s recent words may now point toward those issues being resolved or at least managed, reopening the possibility of Season 2 moving into development.

Hawkeye Season 2 is not official yet, but Jeremy Renner is ready.

Now the ball is in Marvel’s court.
