Stranger Things has reached its finale! It is quite difficult to accept that the characters, the Upside Down, and Hawkins will not be present anymore.

Stranger Things has always been an important part of our showtime for a period of ten years, displaying amazing lighting, manipulating emotions, and narrating fabulous and captivating stories. Every episode, from flickering Christmas lights to dangerous confrontations with the Mind Flayer or Vecna, was so gripping that the fans were always left wanting more, curious about the next plot twist.

What will happen to the void that we are bound to feel after the last episode of Stranger Things on December 31, 2025, which is Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up? No series can make Hawkins a thing of the past, yet there are a myriad of shows, new, classic, and upcoming, that are bound to attract the audience with their similar qualities of addiction: complicated mysteries, high-stakes drama, and characters whom the viewer really cares about.

Here’s the list of shows that the die-hard fans of Stranger Things will find hard to shift their attention away from

1. Dark (2017–2020)

If you are one of those people who found the mysteries of Hawkins interesting, the best suggestion for you would be the series Dark.

This is a science fiction thriller from Germany. It starts with the unusual disappearance of a child, and the story later unfolds to reveal some family secrets and the web of the lives of the characters, gradually instilling the concept of time travel.

Dark has a darker tone and is more philosophical compared to Stranger Things. It is the intricate plot and exciting storyline that make it addictive. Furthermore, you can easily binge-watch it as it consists of only three seasons and has been available since 2020.

2. Yellowjackets (2021–present)

Yellowjackets brings psychology and horror to the audience, luring them to the same elements that Stranger Things has. Apart from the survival experience that the characters are going through in the woods, the characters are also living out events of their adult life, which are full of secrets and traumas being experienced by the female characters, who were all members of a soccer team whose plane had crashed in the woods.

The third season was introduced in the year 2025, but the series is still running. But the release of the fourth season of the series has not been officially announced. The suspenseful culmination, complicated relationships, and intensifying mystery all contribute to the series’ immense difficulty in keeping one from watching.

3. The Leftovers (2014–2017)

The Leftovers opens with the sudden disappearance of 2% of the world’s population and explores the themes of grief, religion, and human behavior in the aftermath. Although it does not have the monsters or sci-fi adventures like Stranger Things, it is the emotional intensity and the long-form narrative that the fans appreciated, which are similar to those of the latter.

The series had a run of three seasons and finished in 2017, providing the audience with a complete and immersive experience of viewing.

4. From (2022–present)

From is a town with a mystery that no one could leave if you are trapped existing there, and it is a combination of the supernatural threats and human conflicts. The manner in which the secrets have been unveiled, and the tension has been built in the series, has kept the audience engaged till the very end.

The series is now wrapping up its third overall season by the end of the year, with the current production status listed as ongoing, which is highly appropriate for fans who enjoyed the series' mysteries within the critically acclaimed Stranger Things series.

5. Severance (2022–present)

Although Severance does not relate to the conventional thriller genre in any way, it manages to involve viewers adequately in a psychological thriller and an intelligent story structure. The series showcases the employees of the company undergoing a process that prevents them from recollecting their lives outside the company, thereby giving rise to an interesting situation.

These are indirectly hinted at in each episode, which are further expanded, much like the Hawkins' curiosity in the series. The series was launched in 2022 and is still ongoing as new episodes are being released on Apple TV+. The series is based on the book of the same title by Allison Pearson.

Why do these shows keep you hooked

What was so fascinating about Stranger Things was not just the monsters and the '80s feel, but the perfect blend of suspense, emotional connection, and story arc. All of the above-mentioned shows appear to have, at least, one of the following qualities: storylines that can drive you nuts for the answer, complex storylines, and the emotional connection with the people you share the emotional experience with.

Regardless of whether it is sci-fi, survival horror, or suspense, there is no difference because all offer the same magical quality that Stranger Things enthusiasts expect.

December 31, 2025, marks the end of this Stranger Things era, but it also marks the beginning of new skills for addiction. The series mentioned above will fill this void of Hawkins and provide the same fix of suspense, emotions, and storytelling, which might be hard to resist.

Although Hawkins' charm cannot be replaced, the mentioned series opens new worlds, creates more complex riddles, and gives thrilling stories to those not yet done with Stranger Things.
