Her words and overall attitude towards Lydia were truly remarkable. As Lydia enters the house, she meets Alan.

She tells Alan about his problems in a sarcastic manner, which adds to the overall humour. It depicts her nature, which is quite similar to Evelyn’s. However, when Lydia finally meets Evelyn, their overall posture and clothes are strikingly similar to one another. They go back and forth with their banter.

Though Lydia tries to win, Evelyn is way ahead of her in the humor department. As Evelyn was trying to leave, Lydia asked her if she could walk her out. To which Evelyn asks her if she needed to finish touching up her makeup.

Evelyn, however, is not burdened by the traditional maternal expectations as a result, she acts in a calm manner and writes a cheque without any questions. This moment was a unique depiction of the mother-son equation between Evelyn and Charlie.


4) Alan and Evelyn’s dinner in season 9 episode 19

In season 9 episode 19, we see Alan and Evelyn driving to go to a restaurant to meet Alan’s girlfriend. Evelyn gets curious and asks Alan about her. Alan tells her that his girlfriend’s mother will also be there. On hearing this, Evelyn says her iconic line,

“Alan, you know I don’t like old people.”

He asked Evelyn about the type of procedure, to which Charlie gives an explanation. When Alan was still not convinced, Evelyn told him that because of the procedure, her lips were swollen and the swelling would go down, and she would be back in action.
