Nevermore Academy, or should we say, the Wednesday Addams fan club, is set to hit our screens in just two weeks. To make things even more exciting, the show has been renewed for Season 3 ahead of the Season 2 release. The update was announced by director Tim Burton and actor Jenna Ortega in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter.

Wednesday Season 2 is set to release on August 6 with the first part and September 3 with the second. The new season features Jenna Ortega's Addams returning to the Nevermore Academy to find herself famous (to her dismay).

The Addams Family spin-off featuring the teenage daughter as she attends the Nevermore Academy premiered in 2022. It rose to unparalleled fame after fans fell for Jenna Ortega's soul-searing portrayal of Wednesday Addams. What they loved even more was her friendship with her roommate Enid, who was completely opposite to Addams, a happy-go-lucky person, and the literal embodiment of a rainbow in a human being.

The massive success of Season 1 led to the renewal of the show for another season, which we've had to spend much time waiting for. Now, we're two weeks out from the Season 2 release, and Netflix has renewed the show for another season.

The second season will be released in two parts, the first of which is set to release on August 6 and the second on September 3. The official description for the second season, according to Netflix, reads:

"Wednesday must navigate family, friends, and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery."

There has not been an official announcement from the streaming service, but director Burton and Ortega, in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, revealed that Season 3 is in the works, along with another possible spin-off.

According to Ortega, the second season is set to be even bigger than the first one, and many new elements will come into play, along with some "fan love" for Addams after the other students find out that she saved them last year:

"Netflix has a lot more trust this time around. So we were able to do things on a grander scale and were able to spend more time on sequences. There are also a lot of new cast members like Steve Buscemi and Billie Piper, and doing a scene with them pushes you further because they’re so gifted. We also play on the excitement that Wednesday got from having saved the school in the first season. So it’s nice to see her shut down again out of pure agony [from the attention]."

Ortega's statements, as well as the early leap of faith from Netflix on the renewal, prove that the second season is going to be one for the books. Hopefully, we won't have to wait as long for the third season as we did for the second.
