The Summer I Turned Pretty is almost here, and while the fans eagerly await the final season of the series, the creators have issued a firm warning for them. Be thoughtful with your comments, or get banned. Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty is slated to premiere on July 16, 2025, on Prime Video. The official social media account of the series put a cautionary statement for the fans against hate speech and bullying.

The message read,

"Cousins is our safe place. Everything good, everything magical. Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer."

The past seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty saw fans take to social media to share their displeasure towards certain creative changes in the storyline or characters. The reaction caused much distress to the cast and crew of the Prime Video series. In another post on The Summer I Turned Pretty's official social media account, the creators also shared ‘Community Guidelines’.

"We have a ZERO tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech. If you engage in any of the following you will be banned: Hate speech or bullying. Targeting our cast or crew. Harassing or doxxing members of the community."

Why did The Summer I Turned Pretty creators issue a stern warning ahead of the Season 3 premiere?

The Summer I Turned Pretty follows the story of Isabel “Belly” Conklin (played by Lola Tung), who, along with her family, her mother’s best friend and her sons Conrad (played by Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (played by Gavin Casalegno), spend their summers at Cousins Beach. The series explores the complexities of the love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah.

The third season will take the story forward after Belly decides to be with Jeremiah, and Conrad is left brokenhearted. Belly will be forced to confront her true feelings and choose one of the brothers. The coming-of-age romantic drama is based on the bestselling book series written by Jenny Han.

Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty have been critical of the choice that Belly makes in the story and often take sides between Conrad and Jeremiah. While the Prime Video series has made a few creative changes, the fans stay divided on whom the character should end up with, despite the book giving a definite conclusion. In Season 2, the introduction of Skye, the nonbinary character played by Elsie Fisher, also received negative reaction.

The hateful comments were even addressed by author Jenny Han last season, as per US Weekly. Han wrote on the Instagram story about the hate speech.

“The whole Summer cast and crew have worked hard to make a show we hope you will love, and we are so excited to share it with you guys. The Summer I Turned Pretty community is one of inclusivity. The hurtful comments directed at cast are not in the spirit of the show. Please be mindful of what you’re putting out there and of who is seeing it.”

Lola Tung, aka Belly, also shared that the fans’ reaction can be a little scary at times, and she hopes that they practice caution with their words. As per Teen Vogue, she said,

“I think we see with a lot of these love-triangle stories, people want the leading girl to end up with someone. When people have an attachment to the characters, they want to see it come together at the end. I’m so grateful that they care so much, but people get a little scary about it. Please don't threaten to kill someone if something doesn't go your way — I promise you, it's not that serious. Jenny [Han] is so smart and she cares so much about the story and making it the best story that it can be. It will be okay.”

After The Summer I Turned Pretty's official social media handle posted the guidelines, many fans applauded the effort.

A fan shared on X,

“Very cool that you made this so clear when fandoms can become such sad, toxic places if we aren’t clear and careful. can’t wait for the summer to begin <3”

Another fan wrote,

“It’s sad that it even had to be said but this was very much needed thank you”

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 will comprise 11 episodes. The series will premiere on Prime Video on July 16, 2025.
