Millie Bobby Brown is growing her roster of projects at Netflix. Before the release of Stranger Things Season 5, Brown has committed to starring in a new romantic comedy titled Just Picture It. The movie adds to a group of Netflix productions Brown has participated in over recent years.
The news comes as Stranger Things, the show that catapulted Brown to stardom, is set to conclude its series with a two-part release in November 2025. Brown, who plays Eleven on Stranger Things, will also now star in an entirely different genre series on the same streaming service. The rom-com is already in production.
Netflix announced this week that Just Picture It will star Brown and Gabriel LaBelle. LaBelle became popular for his appearance in The Fabelmans. The movie will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger, who had earlier done The Age of Adaline and had directed some episodes of Netflix's thriller series You.
Just Picture It, as per Netflix, is based on a time-glitch plot where two college students experience future pictures of themselves despite the fact that they have never met in the current world. The movie follows Netflix's latest pattern of casting famous young stars in new original movies.
Plot details of Just Picture It
The plot of Just Picture It follows two college students, played by Millie Bobby Brown and Gabriel LaBelle. From the description by Netflix, their mobile phones begin to display snapshots taken ten years ahead of time. The images describe the characters as a married couple with kids.
However, at the beginning of the timeline of the film, the two main characters have never met before. The movie tells us how the two leads cope with these unexpected visions of their future and how it forces them to transform their present lives.
The storytelling employs a time-related anomaly to establish the love story. The script was penned by Jesse Lasky. It is Lasky's first sale of a feature film script following his stint in television. There is no word from Netflix yet regarding more story details or the supporting cast.
Production team and industry background
The Just Picture It director, Lee Toland Krieger, is also famous for directing the drama movie The Age of Adaline. He also directed some episodes of Netflix's show You. This movie is a continuation of the collaboration between Krieger and Netflix.
Veteran producers Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth are in the project. They have produced many films for Netflix over the last few years. Brown will also be a producer in association with her production house, PCMA Productions, and Robert Down. Alyssa Altman of R/K Films, Jake Bongiovi, Isobel Roberts of PCMA Productions, and David Kern are other executive producers.
Scriptwriter Jesse Lasky has been a staff writer and producer in television. Lasky started his career as a comedy writer for late-night TV before writing for ABC's Revenge. He also wrote the spin-off Revenge novel and DVD bonus feature content for the series. Lasky has also been a member of the writing staff on the medical drama series Code Black and has sold several TV pilots.
