American Idol contestant John Foster is seeing a huge rise in popularity among fans who vote for him night after night. However, this has led to some good artists being eliminated, and the viewers are not happy.

According to various media predictions, John Foster might even win the contest. However, fans are rooting for Jamal Roberts. They feel as if John sings the same genre of songs every time, and there is a "certain demographic" that keeps on voting for him.

As for Jamal, they say he has shown a vocal range and can sing a variety of songs, and not just stick to country music.

Expressing their disappointment at the fact that John might win over Jamal, a fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter,

"Jamal is the next American Idol. Way better than John Foster. If John wins, I'm done watching this show for a while. The majority of the voters seem to be of a certain demographic & I'm sick of it. This ain't a popularity contest. It's about singing."
"Yeah American idol a fucking joke lol John foster taking a spot from two of the best artist on this show is a mockery," read another tweet.
"Every time John Foster sings, I turn the channel. That Lionel Richie Pringles commercial tune gets stuck in my head. 'Stuck on you, guess I'm onnnn my wayyy' yet @carrieunderwood won't tell him 'one trick pony' to move around as she told Jamal," said another fan.
"Teenage girls keeping John Foster on American idol is a disaster for the show. The kid is talented but shouldn’t have been in the top 15 let alone the top five. So many much more talented singers getting robbed. What a shame," expressed a fan.
"How f*cking unfair it is for Carrie to tell Jamal To move around But John Foster and Slater don’t move around . When has Breanna ever danced around," criticised a fan.

Another fan said,

"i stopped watching american idol religiously years ago bc no one who deserves to win ever does but if john foster wins i am literally never turning this shit on again lol"
"John Foster with his prop guitar and flat voice…over Slater and Thunderstorm who can write their own songs and actually play multiple instruments!?! I’d take Josh King at this point….Come on America!!" read a tweet.
"Idk why they dont ever tell john foster that he needs to get rid of that gitar and move around as well like they did with the others," expressed another fan.

American Idol - John delivers a Mother's Day performance

After making it to American Idol's Top 5 on the Disney Night, John continued his charm on the show. He performed Believe by Brooks and Dunn and dedicated it to his mother. The Foster family had been in Disneyland before the performance and spent time together as John shared pictures on his social media.

John, before his performance, claimed that his mother had always supported him through thick and thin, even during the bad days on his American Idol journey, and constantly reassured him that he is exactly where he is supposed to be. During his performance, his mother held a sign saying, "I believe in you, son."

As of right now, he has made it to the Top 3 along with Breanna Nix and Jamal Roberts. This is a huge feat for any 18-year-old to be liked by a large number of voters in a country.

As for Jamal, he is a father to a beautiful child and has had a tough childhood, as shared previously on his Idol journey. Fans are also rooting for him and hope that during next week's finale episode, the artist ends up winning.

American Idol season 23 episodes can be watched weekly on Sundays and Mondays at 8 PM Eastern Time on ABC. Later, the episodes are available to stream via Hulu.
