The MPU deals with the case of Burt in the new episode. Burt is a man who has raised his voice against the fatal working conditions in the brewery where he works, but is often ignored by the boss and the owner who are disinterested in investing into worker's safety. Just before his dissapearance he saved one of his collegue's life and is loved and appreciated by fellow workers for the same.

However, Burt’s righteousness made him enemies. Lembeck, his boss, driven by profit and dismissive of safety protocols, viewed Burt’s complaints as a nuisance. This created significant tension, and suggests that Burt’s disappearance may not be as simple as it initially seemed. It could be tied to the perils he tried to prevent.

The MPU officers also deal with personal tensions that go parallel to invetigating the Burt disappearance case. Prior to the case, Helen has broken up with her stripper boyfriend, Jackson, before things got too serious between them. Jason is juggling work and dog-sitting Wayne's pet. One day, he brings the dog to the office, which leads to humorous events. Gabrielle is blindsided when her ex-husband Damon shows up. Damon is Demetri's lawyer, fighting on the owner's side. This adds a personal layer for her in a professional case of the Alert: Missing Persons Unit.

As the MPU continues the investigation into Burt’s disappearance, they find out that Wyatt and Bianca have sent a video to Burt's daughter to blackmail her for money.

The video confirms they have kidnapped Burt. Gabrielle gets the satellite imagery of the brewery and discovers that Burt is kept hostage on the roof of an abandoned section in the same building. Meanwhile, Bianca also attempts to kidnap Burt's daughter but fails. Jason and Mike go to the location, and after a short gunfight, they successfully rescue Burt and arrest Wyatt.

Burt is reunited with his daughter, and he reveals that he hid the $50 million lottery ticket in a book he gave to Jerry’s widow — a touching gesture rooted in trust and integrity. As the dust settles, Lembeck is exposed for corporate fraud, especially for stealing Demetri’s recipe for brewing beer. Charges are filed against him.

However, even though Damon's client is clear, he warns Gabrielle that he will come after her, as he is not happy with how the MPU handled things. This suggests a coming legal battle between the parties in Alert: Missing Persons Unit.
