Alice in Borderland parents guide: Is the Japanese thriller suitable for kids?

Alice in Borderland, the thriller series that took the internet by storm right after its release, is set to release its third season. Alice in Borderland is more of a survival thriller series. It features a fresh story that will take the viewers on a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns.

Right when you think that all the mysteries are out, a new twist appears and completely changes the scenario. This series is undoubtedly a must-watch. Now, the question arises whether parents can watch this series with their kids. The answer is no. The series has a rating of TV-MA. Hence, it is only suitable for adult viewers and definitely not suitable for kids.

Why is Alice in Borderland not suitable for kids?

Besides the fact that this series has a TV-MA rating, which specifies that the series is suitable for adult viewers, mention should be made of the various reasons why this series should be kept away from children. Alice in Bordelrand takes us viewers on a journey of thrill and mystery when three friends find out that all the people in the city have vanished mysteriously.

Initially, they think that they were left out, but soon realise that there is more to the situation. They follow instructions that lead them to a place where they meet two more people, and the five of them begin a mysterious game. They soon understand that the game they are playing can lead to their deaths. The eventual survivors have to keep on playing the game to keep living, or be killed by laser beams that are shot down from the sky.

It is a twisted situation that leads them to face gruesome consequences. There is gore and mature themes. It might have a negative impact on children. There is also extreme violence. The immense bloodshed and grueling scenes of bodies being blasted into smithereens. This series is definitely not suitable for young viewers.

Along with the gore, there is also constant use of mature language, display of nudity, and sexual content. These scenes might be deeply uncofmratable and quite inappropriate for the younger audience.

The psychological horror through the scenes where we see the desperation and dread of the players in the game is truly impactful. The characters are constantly forced into situations of life and death, where they even have to watch the death of their loved ones in close proximity.

We were left with many questions after the end of Alice in Borderland Season 2. The meaning behind the Joker card should definitely be explored in the upcoming season. It cannot be denied that the show's creators wanted us to feel the fear and the desperation along with the characters.

The third season of Alice in Borderland will release on September 25, 2025. The trailer for the third season is out and is quite promising. It has raised the level of anticipation for the upcoming season. If you haven't already watched the first two seasons, then dive right in and watch the two seasons before the third season drops to get a full immersive experience, but definitely not with your kids.
