Alice in Borderland season 3 brings another chapter of Netflix's live-action adaptation of Haro Aso's popular manga, and it reportedly offers something different than the first two seasons.
During a conversation with ScreenRant, the show's co-writer and director, Shinsuke Sato, revealed that viewers don't need any prior knowledge of the manga in order to watch or enjoy the show. It means that the third season has something to offer to the comics' devoted fans as well as viewers who are newly discovering this world.
Projects like Alice in Borderland can be especially tricky to translate into another format since they have an added responsibility to satisfy the fans of the manga and to ensure that they find it living up to the standards of the original. While doing so, these projects can risk limiting themselves to the scope of the source material at times.
That's why the decision to bring a chapter, inspired by the source material, but having its own creative identity, can allow writers or filmmakers to flesh out its themes and offer a more vital experience instead of staying faithful to the source for the sake of it. The same freedom of expression might help them in appealing to a wider audience.
Let's look at everything else we know about the show's third season.
More details about Alice in Borderland
Writer-director Shinsuke Sato introduced his live-action adaptation of Alice in Borderland in 2020. That's why it became one of the popular shows on the streamer, also earning the majority of critics' approval.
Two years later, the show returned with its second season, which offered a bigger and better look into a myriad of fascinating games that led it to receive a mainly positive critical reception on Rotten Tomatoes.
Eventually, on September 25, Alice in Wonderland returned with its third season, hoping to please the manga fans and new viewers fascinated by its world alike. According to Netflix's Tudum, the plot of season 3 reads:

It further says,
"When he arrives, he’s faced with immediate dangers — fiery arrows, electric currents — and finds out that only one game card remains: the Joker. Can his fellow players help him make it to the finish line? Or will they all perish before Usagi and Arisu can make it home in one piece?"
