Alice in Borderland Season 3 gets a release date — Here's when Arisu returns, and everything you need to know

Alice in Borderland Season 3 is officially arriving on Netflix on September 25, 2025, and the wait is finally over for fans who’ve been eager to return to the world of Borderland. With new deadly challenges, the new chapter picks up after Arisu and Usagi’s hard-earned escape.

What is even more exciting about this season is that it is also new in terms of a story that goes beyond what the manga has shown. After the end of season 2, Arisu and Usagi tried to put their lives back together in the real world.

They are now together in marriage and settled and living quietly, but paranoia has not allowed them a total escape. Unfortunate and strange dreams and hallucinations keep intruding on their lives until their world turns upside down again.

Usagi mysteriously vanishes, and Arisu receives one final Joker card from Banda. It’s a signal that something far more dangerous is unfolding, one that will pull him back into the cruel world of games, manipulation, and twisted morality.

Alice in Borderland Season 3 is nothing like the previous chapters

Unlike Seasons 1 & 2, Alice in Borderland Season 3 charts an entirely original plot twist. The most notable new addition is the Joker stage, a concept that wasn’t present in the source material. In card symbolism, the Joker often represents chaos or unpredictability.

And now in Season 3, it's expected to mark a deadlier and more manipulative phase of Borderland. A major plotline follows Ryuji, a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife. He lures Usagi back into the Borderland, possibly as part of a larger experiment or mission.

This will force Arisu to dive back into the danger to save Usagi from the very world they once escaped. As the story goes on, we get to see the characters grow in unexpected ways. Alice in Borderland Season 3 will make viewers think deeply about what it really means to be alive or just trying to survive.

Meanwhile, returning characters like Banda (now a full Borderland citizen) and Yaba bring ambiguity to the story. Are they allies? Enemies? The line is thin, and that uncertainty is exactly what makes this season so engaging.

The cast of Alice in Borderland Season 3: Who's returning for another deadly ride?

The heart of Alice in Borderland Season 3 remains with Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who return as Arisu and Usagi. Their emotional journey continues to drive the plot forward for more twists and turns.

Alongside them, Hayato Isomura is back as the mysterious and dangerous Banda, Ayaka Miyoshi returns as the skilled Ann, and Katsuya Maiguma reprises his role as Yaba. New faces join the ensemble this season, including Kento Kaku as Ryuji, the afterlife researcher at the center of this chapter’s mystery.

Additional new cast members include Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, and Hyunri, all of whom are expected to play key roles. Notably absent are Shuntarō Chishiya and Hikari Kuina, two fan-favorite characters from earlier seasons.

To ensure fans get the same visual and thrill in the story, Shinsuke Sato returns as screenwriter and director for Alice in Borderland Season 3. The director has been praised for his work in the previous chapters, and now Sato is all set for the September release.
