The final dice has rolled, and the Joker has played his move in the recently released official trailer for Alice in Borderland Season 3. The hit Netflix science fiction thriller series will return with its third and final season on September 25, 2025.
While Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Yuzuha Usagi) managed to return to the real world in the Season 2 finale, a final Joker card was featured in the final moments, teasing an epic final season. After conquering all the number cards, face cards, and even the deceptive Queen of Hearts, the couple will be thrust back into their very own purgatory, ie, Borderland, in the third season.
As per the official synopsis of Alice in Borderland Season 3, Usagi will be abducted and taken to the Borderland by a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife, and Arisu will follow her suit.
Now separated and tasked with the final Joker game ahead, Arisu will have to race against time and get out of the Borderland, which is afloat with new players and deadly games.

Alice in Borderland Season 3: Arisu and Usagi’s journey intensifies
Netflix has finally unveiled the official trailer for Alice in Borderland Season 3, which will feature Arisu and Usagi's final adventure. What makes the final season stand out from its two predecessors is that it is not adapted from Haro Aso's eponymous manga series. This authenticity in the final chapter can either make or break the credibility of this beloved series.
A tragic separation
One of the defining factors in Alice in Borderland Season 3, which makes it even deadlier for Arisu and Usagi, is that they are essentially separated from each other and will play the lethal games in the final season on different teams.
While both Arisu and Usagi have earlier proved that they are strong players, they work great as a team. Usagi has an upper hand in strength, and Arisu is quick-witted and strategic, which makes them an undefeatable duo in the Borderland.
However, Alice in Borderland Season 3 has split them apart, which will be one of the deadliest challenges for the couple. The stakes are even higher since the duo will not have the added benefit of their combined strengths, but will likely compete individually and even against one another.
Yamazaki teased this separation in an interview with Netflix as:
“Since Arisu and Usagi are split into separate teams, I found it interesting to see the different atmospheres and character dynamics within each group. Over the seasons, the characters have become so beloved by fans, and I think that’s why the audience can really empathize with them during the life-or-death moments.”
Race against time
Another key factor that makes the Borderland even more challenging in Alice in Borderland Season 3 is Arisu's race against time to save Usagi. After Usagi is lured back to the liminal space, Arisu decides to return too and save her. But the catch? This time, Arisu seems to be on a clock, as Ann says to him in the trailer:
''If you get her back withing two minutes, she might be able to survive.''
Like the previous seasons, Ann will help Arisu get Usagi back by monitoring him in the real world. This deadly twist suggests that the couple will not only be separated in the final season, but Arisu will have to fight against all odds and time to save Usagi and return to the real world together, once and for all.
Borderland- A lawless purgatory
Finally, Alice in Borderland Season 3 will feature The Final card, ie, Joker, with a new round of deadly games. Since Joker is the extra card, and not traditionally a part of the deck, it suggests the Borderland will become even more unpredictable and lawless.
The uncertainty of the final card also stretches beyond, as the Joker was the equivalent of the ferryman in the manga. The figure existed in the space between life and death, responsible for taking people from the Borderland to the real world. Since Arisu, Usagi, and many other players chose to return to the real world, the finale season will see the Joker lure them back to Borderland. The mystery behind the figure also suggests deadlier games, as teased in the trailer.
