Since its premiere on Netflix back in 2020, Alice in Borderland has been proven to be immensely successful. Based on the popular manga by the same name, the official synopsis of the show, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, reads
“Arisu—a listless, jobless and video-game-obsessed young man—suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive.”
The synopsis further mentions,
“In this strange world, Arisu meets Usagi, a young woman who’s navigating the games alone. Together, they set out to unravel one mystery after another as they risk their lives and confront what it means to live.”
Now the trailer of Alice in Borderland Season 3 has dropped, and it is clear that the third instalment of the thriller is going to pick up right after the revelations that were made at the end of season 2.
Alice in Borderland Season 3 trailer fires up the stakes
One of the most interesting things about Alice in Borderland Season 3 is that it is not based on the original manga and thus will be exploring fresh storylines. The manga was adapted in its entirety in the first two seasons, but in the third season, the makers will be presenting an original story, and the trailer is filled with elements that highlight the same.
In the Alice in Borderland Season 3 trailer, Arisu is seen going back to Borderland as he needs to rescue Usagi, who has been kidnapped. However, this poses new challenges for them because their separation has now placed them in different teams where they need to take help from their co-players to survive.
Moreover, there also seems to be a twist involving how time passes in Borderland and the real world. Since Arisu had escaped in the last season, his understanding of the passage of time in the two worlds can prove to be another crucial plot point in season 3.
The central plot of Season 3 will, of course, revolve around the relationship between Arisu and Usagi as the bond that the two share will be tested once again. Besides their separation, they also have to deal with new issues and threats in the new season, and only time can tell if they survive this.
Set to premiere in September 2025, Season 3 has created quite a buzz with its brand new trailer as fans are waiting with eager anticipation to see what’s next for Arisu and Usagi.
Alice in Borderland can be streamed on Netflix.
