The sixth episode of Alien: Earth aired on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. With just two episodes left, fans are worried for all the characters involved in the series. The show has built up the tension in the previous five episodes that were released, and it reaches a boiling point in the sixth episode, as we lose both Isaac and Arthur in two very different, brutal ways.

As the series races towards its finale in two weeks, the internet is swirling with fan theories regarding how it will end and what lies in its future. As of now, we don't know what lies in the future of the FX network series, as it hasn't been renewed for a second season. But that doesn't mean that there are no plans, though. Showrunner Noah Hawley teased those plans in an interview with the YouTube channel Evolution Of Horror.

Alien: Earth showrunner's Season 2 plan explained:

As mentioned earlier, Hawley and executive producer David Zucker were interviewed by Evolution Of Horror. The video of that interview was posted on August 13, 2025. David Zucker and Noah Hawley discussed Alien: Earth in depth with Mike Muncer in this interview. However, one of the highlights of the interview was when they discussed the possibility of a second season.

Revealing that a second season of the prequel Alien series might be possible, Hawley teased that he knows what the endgame for the series:

“I do. I do. I mean, I think that I have a destination in mind story-wise, which allows me to know what the story is I'm telling, what it means. And I don't know how long it takes to get there, but I do have a sense of where we go in success. And you know, the question becomes: how streamlined can we make the process so that you're not waiting for three, or four, or five years for more?”

It should also be noted that FX network chairman John Landgraf hinted at massive plans for the prequel series in a 2024 Variety interview:

“We’re pretty bullish on Alien: Earth and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo.”

Thus, based on both these quotes, chances are high that the prequel might be renewed for a second season, probably after the finale, which releases on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

What is the prequel series about?

The series takes place two years before 1979's Alien. Set in 2120, it revolves around Prodigy Corporation's hybrids, i.e., robots with human consciousness, encountering dangerous otherworldly life forms inside a Weyland-Yutani spaceship that crash-lands in a Prodigy city. The synopsis for the prequel reads:

"When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s Alien: Earth."

Is a second season possible? Let us know.
