The Alien franchise is all set to make a comeback with Alien: Earth, and a second trailer teases a new monster, much scarier than a Xenomorph. Animal screeches are the last thing we hear before the trailer ends, leaving behind nothing but chills and anticipation.
Alien: Earth will debut with two episodes on FX on August 12 and then follow a weekly release schedule till September 23. It was previously revealed that the show would introduce new predatory species, and the latest trailer gives a brief look at one of these monsters.
Alien: Earth's latest trailer reveals one of the new creatures in the crashed spaceship
The synopsis for Alien: Earth revealed that a group of ragtag soldiers is tasked with a dangerous mission on a crashed space research vessel and discovers five new life forms that were collected from the darkest corners of the universe:
"After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, 'Wendy' and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined. When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, 'Wendy' (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s Alien: Earth."
The second trailer released by FX gives us a brief glimpse at one of the new monsters that are running wild after the spaceship crash at the end. However, we also get a glimpse at a sheep that appears to have been attacked, which was also seen briefly in the first trailer. It also looks like this sheep was being experimented on by the scientists on the spaceship, as it has sensors on its head.
One of the creatures from the spaceship is named T. Ocellus, according to the trailer, and this life form has several characteristics, such as tentacles with extraordinary strength that can grow or retract at will and the capability to lodge into the eyes of other living organisms. But what stands out is that once these tentacles lodge into the eye socket, they take over the neural pathways to the brain and therefore are able to control all neural transmissions into the body.

The sheep in the trailer appears to have been attacked by the invasive creature that seems to be lodged in its left eye socket, painting an exceptionally chilling picture, and the trailer echoes what every single viewer is feeling at this point:
"We don't lock them down, it will be too late."
The chills and horror in Alien: Earth are dialed up to the highest notch with the introduction of this new creature and its capabilities to essentially take over its host's brain. Reminiscent of the Cordyceps variant in The Last of Us, the T. Ocellus lifeform is revealed to have "problem-solving skills at a near-human" level, predicting a harrowing picture for humanity.
