Wendy has everyone’s attention, even the Xenomorphs’. While Alien: Earth earlier on hints at the fact that Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler) has some kind of connection with the extraterrestrial lifeform, Episode 4, titled Observation, establishes that there is more to it than what meets the eye.

Wendy can, in fact, communicate with the Xenomorph, which even lets her touch it, to Kirsh’s (Timothy Olyphant) shock.

The FX series Alien: Earth is created by Noah Hawley. Based on the Alien film franchise, the series is set in 2120, when a research spaceship crashes on Earth and a team led by Wendy, the first hybrid created by the Prodigy Corporation, discovers an extraterrestrial threat known as the Xenomorph.

Wendy can communicate with Xenomorph in Alien: Earth

Wendy in Alien: Earth was an 11-year-old girl called Marcy Hermit, who was terminally ill. She gets selected by Prodigy founder Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) to become a hybrid, which essentially transfers her consciousness into an adult synthetic body. While Wendy will go on to showcase some extraordinary powers, it is her distinctive sensory ability that makes her one-of-a-kind.

After the deep space research vessel Maginot, which is owned by Weyland-Yutani, crash-lands on Earth, Prodigy discovers Xenomorph eggs. Boy Kavalier is especially captivated by the terrifying extraterrestrial creature, and as the storyline develops, it becomes clear that he wants to establish some kind of control over it. And Wendy becomes the perfect, unexpected medium.

In Alien: Earth Episode 4, the Prodigy team is trying to investigate the reason behind Wendy’s collapse. She can hear the alien, and while the others are debating putting her through it, Wendy feels that the Xenomorphs chose her. It is also understood that she is the only one who can hear the alien.

To Boy Kavalier’s delight, she can also immaculately recreate the Xenomorph sounds. He, however, decides to take it slow on the advice of his team, who believe Wendy is still too young to understand the gravity of her ability.

Though it would seem like Wendy’s connection with the Xenomorph is just that, towards the end of the Alien: Earth episode we see Wendy venturing into the lab. She looks at her brother’s lung in a glass container, which was removed previously after the Xenomorph attack. Inside the lung is the growing alien. Kirsh watches from the back as Wendy starts singing to the glass container, and suddenly the small, snake-like Xenomorph from within breaks out of the glass.

Wendy is not afraid and instead watches it with great interest. When she starts communicating with it using the same chittering sounds she had made earlier, the Xenomorph slithers closer to her, and she touches it softly. Kirsh appears shocked at the inexplicable communication.

Boy Kavalier's reaction to this knowledge remains to be seen. However, one thing is for certain: he will take full advantage of Wendy’s ability, which may unleash more danger than she bargained for.
