The Alien franchise is finally here with its next installment, Alien: Earth, which will serve as the prequel series to the 1979 film Alien.
After 2024's Alien: Romulus, the future of the Alien franchise looks bright, and based on the first trailer, the franchise might be gearing up for one of the biggest crossovers with its sister series, Predator.
Alien: Earth's recently released trailer has teased an appearance by Xenomorphs' biggest rival, the Yautja.
The Predator franchise is also returning with Predator: Badlands, and it previously also featured a hidden Alien connection.
The series stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, and Essie Davis in the main roles.
More on this in our story.
Alien: Earth's trailer teased the biggest crossover with Predator yet
While Alien vs. Predator films initiated the first connection between the Alien and Predator franchises, Alien: Earth's latest trailer might have teased the biggest crossover with the Predator franchise yet.
As the official synopsis of the upcoming series reveals:
''The story follows Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler), the first prototype hybrid, as she and others encounter the dangerous life forms brought to Earth by the crashed vessel.''
The upcoming series will increase the stakes even more as Wendy and her team will encounter not one but five different life forms, including facehuggers, good old-fashioned xenomorphs, and other mysterious species.
While the trailer did not reveal the identity of the other four species, fans are speculating that they might be related to the Predator franchise. Just before the trailer ends, Babou Ceesay's Morrow can be heard describing the species as:
“This ship collected five different life forms from the darkest corners of the universe. Monsters… Invasive species. Predatory.”
The last word was enough to tip the fans to read between the lines and speculate that Alien: Earth might canonize its connection with the Predator franchise.
In addition, the familiar clicking and chittering (of the Yautja) can also be heard in the background, which further suggests that the upcoming series might be gearing up for a battle between Xenomorphs and their classic rivals.
Will a predator finally make an appearance in Alien: Earth?
Alien vs. Predator movies exist, but they are categorized as non-canonical. It is also worth noting that while the Xenomorphs exist in the Predator universe, Alien movies have never included or referenced Predators, until this newest trailer.
With this word drop in the Alien: Earth trailer, it looks like the Predator will finally make its long-overdue appearance in the Alien franchise, and fans will also get to see a battle between the Xenomorphs and the Yautja.
This battle and appearance make even more sense as Disney+ has recently launched both the Alien and Predator franchises under the 20th Century Studios.
While the upcoming series will actually feature a Predator, or this was just a tease for a future crossover, that remains to be seen. However, the tease has surely opened doors for a future fight between Xenomorphs and the Yautja.
