If you follow Hulu's latest sci-fi horror series, Alien: Earth, you may have already guessed that Wendy, the first hybrid, shares a mysterious connection to the Xenomorphs.

In the previous episodes of Alien: Earth, we saw how Wendy was facing some unusual glitches. Turns out, Wendy was somehow drawn to the Prodigy lab where they were experimenting on Xenomorph eggs.

The moment that left the viewers confused was when the tortured cries of Facehugger jolted Wendy out of a coma. No one else reacted, but she did. She was drawn to Prodigy's lab, where she found Boy Kavalier's disturbing experiments with Xenormorph eggs were underway; she collapsed under the force of its wails. It wasn't a simple coincidence. It was a connection.

To understand Wendy's sensitivity, let's have a quick look at her origins.

Wendy reacts to the Xenomorph sounds in Alien: Earth because she bears the ability to hear them, as shown in the trailer for Episode 4. Her mysterious connection to Xenomorph might stem from her hybrid origins, allowing her to sense and somewhat understand Xenomorphs on a deeper level.

Wendy is the first of Kavalier's hybrids: A child's consciousness transplanted into an adult synthetic body. This makes her part human and part machine and possibly something more. Her ties to technology run deeper; she startled the scientists by using a robotic stand-in to communicate with her brother, Joe.

Alien: Earth hints that the gift might extend to the Xenomorphs as well. Even though the connection between Xenomorphs and Wendy is not established yet, in the latest teaser, she utters:

"'I woke up and I heard it. It was screaming."

The implications are staggering. It states that Wendy might be more powerful than they had imagined, which may either help or ruin Kavalier's pursuit of control over alien species.

In Episode 3, Boy Kavalier uses Hermit's parts to experiment on an alien egg. The experiment sparks a shriek that strikes Wendy's mind. Her collapse inside Prodigy's facility wasn't weakness, but resonance.

The upcoming episode promises sharper answers. Promotional teasers show Wendy pressed by scientists to recount her collapse, as she confessed to hearing the cries. Whether she becomes a weapon, translator, or traitor remains to be seen, but one thing is that the future of the series runs straight through her veins.

Apart from Wendy admitting to hearing Xenomorph sounds, the trailer also gives us a sneak peek of Kirsch continuing with the experiment, while Morrow convinces Slightly to steal an egg. In the closing moments of the trailer, we see Wendy fixated on fertile Xenomorphs when the glass box bursts open.

The synopsis of Alien: Earth reads:

"When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat."

Alien: Earth is available to watch on FX. New episodes drop every Tuesday.
