Detective Alacaras faces yet another challenge when he calls Rick asking about the lottery for the school. However, Rick demands that Alacaras help the associate dean so that the seat for the school can go to Alacaras’s son. Rick tells him that the associate dean’s son was caught with illegal substances. Hearing this, Alcaras begins to assure him that he does not need to worry about it because he will be only doing drug treatment and community service for his crime, after which he can get it expunged from his record.

However, Rick tells him that the associate dean’s son needs to apply for college, so he needs to get his records clean. Rick then continues that if Alacaras could switch the drug that the boy was carrying with Tylenol, he can be assured that his son will get the seat. However, Alacaras begins to get angry at the proposition and cuts the call. At the station, Alacaras finds out that Esther wants to speak to him. Esther reveals that the man in the picture is Kyle Smith, and she fostered him.

Esther tells them that Kyle could never do something like this, as he is a kind person. She also admits that Kyle was arrested and sent to prison for six years. Alacaras and his team finally get the name of the suspect, and the investigation begins in a full-fledged manner.

They then visit the prison to talk to Kyle’s cellmate to find details about him. The investigation progresses, but at the back of Alacaras’ mind, the worry about his son keeps him on edge. He even talks to his associate about the documentary he watched about people like his son and the difficulties they had to face.

Alacaras visits Marissa, where he discusses the progress of the case. The focus then shifts to his son. He reveals his son’s health to Marissa. They have a heart-to-heart conversation. At the end of the fourth episode in All Her Fault, he decides to make the decision to tamper with the evidence so that his son can get the chance to attend the school.

After changing the drugs to Tylenol, he sends a text message to Rick about it.
