BBC is all set to bring a nail-biting workplace thriller that focuses on the toxic relationship between two women. Titled The Guest, the four-part series is captained by Eve Myles, along with Gabrielle Creevy, and Lindsay Salt serves as the director.
As per BBC, Lindsay has described the show as
“hugely entertaining, deftly plotted thriller.”
Matthew Barry serves as the executive producer of The Guest, and talking about working with Quay Street Productions, the company that had previously produced shows like Nolly and Fool Me Once, Barry said,
“I'm beyond excited to be re-teaming with Nicola, Davina and the whole team at Quay Street Productions and the BBC to bring The Guest to life.”
He further added,
“As well as being an exciting thriller, at its core this is an examination of class, social mobility and the growing disparity between those at the top and bottom of our society.”
Let us now explore The Guest in detail, including what the show is about and if it will be hitting the screens anytime soon.

Filming for The Guest begins this month
While the exact or tentative release date for The Guest has not been revealed by BBC yet, the outlet has confirmed that shooting for the show will start this month. The filming locations will be mostly in and around Cardiff, and as per the words of Nick Andrews, the Head of Commissioning for BBC Cymru Wales,
“The Guest is a twisty-turny edge of your seat thriller which you will be watching from behind your sofa. Matt has written a beautifully crafted tense story – an absolute showstopper of a series produced by some of the very best in the business.”
The plot of The Guest, as per BBC, reads,
“Ria has never had the time or opportunity to think about what she might actually want from the world. So, when she starts cleaning for Fran, she’s intoxicated by this confident and self-assured woman who encourages her to take control of her life and, when Ria flourishes, an intense friendship is forged.”
It further adds,
“However, when Fran’s advice leads to a shocking event, the lives of these two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots. What follows is a compelling and manipulative game of cat-and-mouse. But just who is playing who?”
Besides starring Creevy and Miles as the protagonists, The Guest also stars Sion Daniel Young, Emun Elliott, Bethan Mary-James, Julian Lewis Jones, Joseph Ollman, Clive Russell, and Catherine Ayers.
Davina Earl and Nicola Shindler, who are associated with Quay Street Productions, are all praises for the show, as they said, as reported by Digital Spy.
“We’re so thrilled to be working with Matt again, this time on a thriller with two fascinating women at its heart. Matt’s scripts are not only full of tension and twists but deeply relatable characters and his trademark wit and humour.”
Upon its release, The Guest will be available to stream on BBC One and iPlayer.
