House of the Dragon Season 3 went into production at the end of March, and as filming develops, new castings for the upcoming season are coming to light. The HBO drama series has confirmed six new castings for its third season.
Set two centuries before the Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon tells the story of the Targaryen family. The show focuses on a brutal civil war called the Dance of the Dragons, between Queen/Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and King/Prince Aegon II Targaryen.
House of the Dragon Season 3 has added six new cast members. James Norton, Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, Tom Cullen, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane will all appear in key roles. Each actor will be playing characters that will affect the events of the war and the show's story in general.
New Casting for House of the Dragon Season 3
James Norton is joining the cast of House of the Dragon Season 3 as Lord Ormund Hightower. He is a noble from Oldtown and Otto Hightower's nephew. As part of the Green faction, Ormund leads his family’s army to King's Landing in support of Aegon’s claim to the throne.

Tommy Flanagan will play Lord Roderick Dustin, also called Roddy the Ruin, sent by Lord Cregan Stark. Lord Roderick is a northern lord who brings a formidable group of grizzled graybeards known as the Winter Wolves to fight for Queen Rhaenyra. He represents the Starks' support for the Black faction.

Dan Fogler is joining the cast of House of the Dragon Season 3 as Ser Torrhen Manderly, a knight from the house of Manderly in White Harbor. Like Lord Dustin, he stands with Rhaenyra, making the Blacks even stronger with further northern support.

Tom Cullen will be playing Ser Luthor Largent, the Lord Commander of the City Watch in King's Landing. In the books, he is known for his six-foot-seven height, skill, and power. During the Dance of the Dragons, Largent shifts his loyalty to the Blacks due to his loyalty to Daemon Targaryen.
Joplin Sibtain will play Ser Jon Roxton, known as Bold Jon Roxton. He is a knight fighting for the Greens and carries a Valyrian steel sword called Orphan-Maker. Barry Sloane is set to play Ser Adrian Redfort in House of the Dragon Season 3, a knight from the Vale. He fights as a knight in Queen Rhaenyra's Queensguard, and it shows how far her influence has spread.

In addition to the new cast of House of the Dragon Season 3, Emma D’Arcy is returning as Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Matt Smith is returning as Daemon Targaryen. Olivia Cooke and Rhys Ifans will also return as Alicent and Otto Hightower.
Other returning cast members of House of the Dragon Season 3 include Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Ewan Mitchell as Prince Aemond Targaryen, Tom Glynn-Carney as King/Prince Aegon II, Phoebe Campbell as Lady Rhaena Targaryen, and Phia Saban as Queen/Princess Haelena Targaryen, among others.
Ryan Condal returns as the showrunner for House of the Dragon Season 3. The next season, like the first two, will be based on George R. R. Martin's novel, Fire and Blood.
As the battle for the Iron Throne gets even more bloody, with dragons roaring fire, House of the Dragon Season 3 is set to release in 2026. The new season will bring more drama, more strategies, and even more cinematic episodes.
