During the penultimate episode, the Spring Baking Championship had the four remaining bakers make a French Frassier. The bakers were Priya Winson, Lisa Clark, Raveena Oberoi, and Mary-Frances Bahun.
Host Jesse Palmer welcomed them all to the workshop, where they will be working on that day's preheat challenge. The top two winners will advance to the main heat challenge directly. However, the two will have to compete against each other in a bakeoff to avoid elimination.
Jesse introduced his spring magic machine on Spring Baking Championship and gave the bakers their assignment for the preheat challenge. They were required to make a French Frassier and add a personal twist to it.
All four of the contestants expressed how difficult this round was going to be because this cake has to be very specific and neat. Talking about the same, Priya said,
"This cake is all about precision. There's nowhere to hide. Everything is visible from the outside immediately so everything has to be perfect."
Spring Baking Championship - Priya puts a Persian twist on her Frassier
Priya has decided to use various spices to add to her Frassier cake and put a Persian spin on it. She says,
"The hardest thing about making a Frassier cake is attention to detail. This cake is built in layers inside a mold. When you demold it, all of the layers are visible on the exterior. Anyone can go home on the smallest details..So, it gives me added motivation to dot all my eyes and cross all my t's."
Spring Baking Championship's host Jesse Palmer then remarked that Priya has been a queen at preheat challenges. He reminisces about her making it to the top two to three times and winning two of them.
Describing her dessert, she says she is going to do the flavors of a Persian love cake, saying that there is "nothing like young love to remind you of spring." Listing the spices, Priya claims she will use rose, pistachio, cardamom, and a little bit of saffron. Describing what a Persian love cake is, Priya said,
"It's got a lot of legend around it about a woman who bakes a cake for a man. Either he falls in love with her and then they live happily ever after, or she doesn't and she eats the whole cake."
Her cake will have a pistachio genoise with a cardamom mousseline. On top will be strawberry rose compote, and the design will be made with fondant flowers with candied strawberries on top with long stems.
When she presented the Frassier to the judges, at first impression, they were impressed by the theatrics of it all. Remarking that the sugar-dipped strawberries on top add a dramatic twist to the French classic, Duff Goldman couldn't wait to taste it all.
They even called it "one of the most successful" cakes that they had that day. Ultimately, Priya ended up winning her ticket to the finale.
