Netflix’s highly anticipated show, Squid Game Season 3, is finally set to release on June 27, 2025. In the final season, we will see if Gi-hun will be able to break the system or the Front Man will destroy all his attempts to do it. While the games are revealed to be more brutal and difficult this time, the most anticipated moment of Squid Game Season 3 is Gi-hun and In-ho/Front Man's face-off.
In Season 2, we saw how the Front Man joined the game to destroy Gi-hun’s attempt to stop it and also killed one of Gi-hun’s close friends in front of him, leaving the man filled with guilt and remorse. This is his way of making Gi-hun struggle, to make him weak. However, he also noticed how even with so many constraints, Gi-hun still manages to stick to his beliefs.
In a new interview with IGN, Lee Byung-hun, who plays the In-ho/Front Man, talked about how he thinks that In-ho might somewhere believe in Gi-hun and want him to succeed. He stated,
"To see Gi-hun still continue to have hope for the world and humanity, I think a small part of him is almost rooting for Gi-hun to be right."
More on this in our story.
Lee Byung-hun thinks that Gi-hun reminds the Front Man of himself in Squid Game
Since most of Gi-hun’s allies were killed during their rebellious act in season 2, the official trailer of Squid Game Season 3 revealed that Front Man has spared Gi-hun’s life. The reason behind this is that he wants to see how long Gi-hun holds on to his beliefs.
In the IGN interview, Lee Byung-hun also stated how the Front Man thinks Gi-hun is just like him and will give up on his hopes just like he did. However, after entering the game, he saw how Gi-hun, even after struggling, holds on to them, which makes him envious of Player 456.
To add to his above comment, he said,
"While he’s thinking that, he sees how Gi-hun continues to struggle to hold on to his beliefs. So I think on the one hand, because Gi-hun reminds him of himself, he does have a sense of envy that he feels, because he knows that what Gi-hun is doing is not something he was able to do."
He also talked about the Front Man leaving Gi-hun alive after his attempt to break the system to teach him a lesson, as he thinks that Gi-hun will end up just like him, as he used to be just like Gi-hun when he entered the game in 2015.
Lee Byung-hun’s comments on the Front Man’s views on Gi-hun have increased the curiosity and anticipation for Squid Game Season 3, as the season’s main focus will be on Gi-hun and whether he will be able to hold on to his hope for humanity or will become just like the Front Man.
