Spider-Noir, the Marvel superhero live-action series, which is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2026, will be released in both the regular and black-and-white versions. There were initially speculations that the series would be released only in black and white as Spide-Noir belongs to Earth-90214, a universe set in the Great Depression era, which is portrayed with a complete black, white and grey palette.

But Prime Video has just confirmed on Instagram that the show will be released in both black and white and colour, and star Nicholas Cage as Detective Ben Reilly.

Spider-Noir to be released in two variants

Comic book fans who love the Spider-Man Noir stories might want to see the show in black-and-white just like the old days. Whereas the character of Spider-Noir in a more colourful and brighter version might be more appealing for the Peter Parker/Miles Morales fans or those who would like to see a more relatable portrayal of Ben Reilly. Prime Video has just shared a poster for the new series with the caption,

The city needs a hero…hopefully they find someone. “Spider-Noir” – a new live action series starring Nicolas Cage – arrives 2026 in both black & white and color.

Thus, fans can watch either of the two variants according to their preference. The storyline and scenes will remain the same irrespective of the variant. Spider-Noir will follow Ben Reilly, in 1930s New York, giving us a look at the city during the Great Depression. Reilly is a private investigator, but that's not the only thing he does. The series will show us how Reilly balances his profession along with being a superhero who is still dealing with his past. The series will have eight episodes and will be released in 2026. The official logline for the show states,

Spider-Noir is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. The story follows an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, played by Academy Award winner Cage, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

The upcoming series will star Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, aka Spider-Man Noir, Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Brendan Gleeson as a New York mob boss, Li Jun Li as a singer at a nightclub, Abraham Popoola as a World War I veteran, Lukas Haas as a subordinate of Gleeson's Mob boss, Jack Huston as a bodyguard.
