Amazon Prime is developing a live-action God of War series based on the popular game of the same name, and while the crew behind the show has been finalised, the cast hasn't. It is one of the most popular games ever made, and has won the title of the Game of the Year in 2005 and 2018. Thus the game has an immensely passionate fanbase and castings need to be perfect for the show to be a success.

As Forbes reports, the creative heads of the show have started to consider a few actors for the show, and they are eyeing Max Parker, whom we last saw in Netflix's Boots for the role of Baldur.

Netflix's Boots actor Max Parker is being considered for God of War

Max Parker, most recently recieved praise for his portrayal of Sergeant Sullivan in the Netflix series Boots (2025). While he played the character extremely well, he is also known for playing Alasdair Newman in Casualty, Luke Posner in Emmerdale, Mikhail Tanner in Vampire Academy, and Henry VIII in Blood, Sex & Royalty, among others.

As far as the character goes, Baldur is the main villain of God of War (2018), which is the game the show will adapt first. He is the son of Odin and Freya, and due to a curse from his mother, he cannot feel anything, which which is why he seeks revenge on her. Since Baldur doesn't feel almost anything, he is not vulnerable and his invulnerability becomes main challenge for Kratos in the game. Baldur is extremely strong, fast, and able to endure immense damage without feeling any pain.

The conflict between Baldur and Kratos in God of War is what sets the game's plot in motion, as we see Kratos and Atreus try to fight their way to the peak of the highest mountain in the realms to fulfill the dying wish of Faye, Atreus' mother. Given the character's story, Max Parker has the potential to play it well since he has played complicated characters before. Besides Parker, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is being considered for the role of Thor. As far as appearances and acting capibilities go, Ólafsson seems like a good fit if he is cast in the show.

These are just considerations presently, and none of them have been confirmed. Hence, anything can happen. Ronald D. Moore is the writer, showrunner, and an executive producer for the show. Other executive producers on the show are Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon, Joe Menosky, and Marc Bernardin. Jeff Ketcham serves as a co-executive producer. God of War is produced collaboratively by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.

There is not yet a date of release revealed for the God of War show since it's in the earlier stages of development. More information will be announced with time. Stay tuned to stay updated.
