Amazon teams up for new pop culture comedy Off Fairfax with Stephen Curry and Rell Battle

According to recent reports, Amazon MGM Studios is teaming up with Unanimous Media to create a pop-culture conspiracy comedy that blends laughs with emotional stakes, titled Off Fairfax, with Stephen Curry and Rell Battle. The names associated with the show are enough to tell us how interesting and fun it is going to be. It will be created and written by comedian Rell Battle, known for the 2018 show Roast Battle. Brothers Yassir, the fame of The Gutter, and Isaiah Lester, known for Black-ish, will be developing the Amazon show.

Along with this, Off Fairfax will be produced by Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton. The story is centered on Quinn, a man haunted by his mother’s disappearance 20 years ago. He further assembles a ragtag crew of locals who tackle wild, pop culture-themed investigations. The cases are intertwined and lead to a new revelation every time about his mom.

Amazon teams up with Stephen and Rell to create a new comedy show Off Fairfax

It is interesting to know that it was earlier a 7-minute short film by Rell, which the creators are now expanding into a series while retaining the quirky and comedic tone. The show is expected to combine community-based sleuthing with personal stakes, offering more than just laughs. Quinn, being the emotional core of the narrative, looking for his missing mother, also grounds the absurdity in some real drama.

While speaking with Deadline, Erick and Stephen from Unanimous Media point out that Off Fairfax is going to be a raw and hilarious journey for its viewers. They also revealed the core of the show.

“Off Fairfax is a wild ride through the absurd, hilarious, and heartfelt corners of pop culture and mystery,” said Erick Peyton and Stephen Curry of Unanimous Media.

“We’re excited to partner with Rell Battle, Yassir & Isaiah Lester, Ingrid Escajeda, and Amazon to bring viewers into this world. At its core, it’s about the family you make and what happens when a group of lovable, misfit characters refuse to stop asking the big questions.”

Ingrid Escajeda knwon for Griselda, and Silo will be serving as the Executive Producer via Sugarwitch Productions. While speaking with Deadline, she expressed her excitement about the show and praised Rell's talent in comedy.
