A mixed bag of artists eagerly awaited their fate in Week 3 of the America’s Got Talent Quarterfinals, keeping the audience glued to their television screens. There are the life-changing announcements, the dramatic pauses, and all the stakes in the world on the line in the live results episode. The judges anxiously awaited the results of America’s vote, which Terry Crews kicked off with the usual gusto.

Since a few of the contestants last evening would survive to the semifinals, every vote really did matter. One such moment arrived when Simon Cowell used his Golden Buzzer on Micah Palace, securing her spot in the semifinals. All four judges stood on their feet, not just as a matter of form but with a hardly-ever-on-television rapturous standing ovation at her performance of Adele's "Someone Like You," which brought the audience to tears.

Meanwhile, the U.S. votes ultimately delivered an additional three semifinal slots – for singer Jessica Sanchez, dance group Mastermind, and comedian Chris Turner. But the night was not all celebrations, as both the Messoudi Brothers and Jacqueline & Wagner were eliminated. The exit of Messoudi Brothers and Jacqueline & Wagner is just another reminder that talent does not make a place.

America's Got Talent (AGT) Quarterfinals Week 3 – Semifinalists and eliminations

America’s Got Talent (AGT) Week 3 Quarterfinals results led to a few surprises but also a lot of predictability. Chris Turner, Mastermind, and Jessica Sanchez were all supported by the somewhat overwhelming audience, while Micah Palace’s Golden Buzzer effect continued to linger.

In the meantime, two top-quality acts, the Messoudi Brothers and Jacqueline & Wagner, got tossed, apparently unexpectedly. Here’s why some of the front-runners didn’t make it and how each of the successful artists got there.

The acts advancing to the semifinals

Chris Turner proved comedy is still a contender on America’s Got Talent (AGT). A master of impeccable timing and rapid-fire jokes, he delivered a set that had the judges and the audience laughing loud and often.

Comedy contenders can bomb, but Turner’s stage persona and relatability carried him through. Intricately choreographed mastermind dance made the set enjoyable. Among this week’s memorable performances was their seamless, prop-heavy performance. The fan base had come through for them in the room vote win.

The night's most moving performance came from Jessica Sanchez. She demonstrated strength, endurance, and unadulterated vocal force when singing while eight months pregnant. Her ability to engage the audience cemented her spot in the semifinals, and Simon referred to her as "the one to beat."

The upcoming round will be one of the most difficult yet, as these semifinalists prepare to face formidable acts like Sirca Marea, Jourdan Blue, and LightWire in the upcoming round.

Acts sent home this week

The dangerous spins and trust-based exploits performed by the roller-skating tandem, Jacqueline & Wagner, had dazzled audiences. Their dismissal was unexpected because of their chemistry and daring tricks, which made them audience favorites. Following the performance, social media was ablaze with America's Got Talent fans claiming they should be given another shot.

The Messoudi Brothers' astounding strength demonstrations and balancing skills elevated acrobatics to a new level. The judges, who commended their accuracy but acknowledged that America's vote sometimes favors emotional resonance over technical proficiency, were taken aback by their departure.

Despite their elimination from the competition, both acts' exposure on AGT ensures opportunities outside of the show. As past competitors have proven, elimination isn’t always the end; it can be the beginning of a global career
