Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who have been two of the central cast members of American Horror Story, recently urged the show's co-creator Ryan Murphy to start working on its 13th season soon.
Murphy's name has become nearly synonymous with this anthology series, which has a devoted horror fanbase since it began in 2011. It has since cast stars such as Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett, among others, in different roles. Paulson and Peters have also been part of this AHS tradition, having played multiple characters.
The show wrapped its 12th season in April 2024, but since then, there haven't been any concrete updates about its release date or production. That's why Paulson and Peters jokingly brought up this topic at the 77th Emmy Awards ceremony, after they arrived on stage to present the Limited or Anthology Series Emmy.
Peters referred to his AHS co-star and began by saying,
"We haven't really worked together since American Horror Story Season 10. I miss you."
To that, Paulson replied,
"I miss you! Although if you really missed me, you would call your agent and Mr. Murphy over there and get them started on season 13."
American Horror Story stars urge the show’s creator to answer for the Season 13 delay
American Horror Story has been an awards darling with over 17 Emmy wins across its longer-than-a-decade run. The show has proven to be a major title for the FX network, with fans returning season after season to see what Ryan Murphy and his team are bringing to the table. It has also been a highlight for many horror genre fans. Despite that, there hasn't been any update on another season.
In September 2023, the 12th season premiered on FX, followed by the second part, which was released in April 2024. Upon its release, the show also won an Emmy for its contemporary costumes. It was later renewed for another season, marking its 13th, which is expected to be aired in 2026.
However, the show hasn't gone on floors yet.
At the Emmys, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters jokingly asked Ryan Murphy to start working on the show's next season. Although it was part of a skit, showing their potential impatience about its production or their return, it reminds fans that a new season is long overdue, with over a year having passed by since the last episode.

The delay for American Horror Story Season 13 could be credited to Murphy's busy schedule, whether as a writer, director, or producer. Murphy also works on the Monster anthology series, which earned Peters an Emmy nomination for playing a serial killer.
There are more than a few projects on Murphy's radar, including the next season of Monster. He is also one of the producers behind shows like All's Fair, 9-1-1: Nashville, and The Shards. So, he might be prioritizing some projects over the rest to manage his time.
The delay for American Horror Story's new season may also be a good sign for the show, since Murphy's team might be refining their ideas and scripts to give something rewarding.
