"An epic fail": MasterChef Dynamic Duos' judge Joe Bastianich reacts to Kevin and Trey's dish

MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 4, titled "Dinner Party Dish," was released on June 11, 2025. The latest episode of the Fox culinary show featured its first challenge for the participants.

There were 12 duos participating in the Dinner Party challenge. Based on their performance, the judges would choose the best dish for a reward, while the duo with the worst dish would be sent home.

One of the duos from the bottom 3, Kevin and Trey, received criticism from the judges. They prepared Cajun seafood pasta with shrimp, scallops, and mussels. After tasting their dish, one of the judges, Joe Bastianich, reacted:

"This dish is an epic fail. There's no teamwork here."

MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 4: Judges taste the dishes and determine the best and the worst dishes

The first challenge on MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 4 was based on the theme, Dinner Party. For that, judges mentioned that cheftestants are supposed to cook a "restaurant-quality" dish. The time duration given to complete the challenge was one hour.

After the cheftestants were done with their dishes, judges will taste and determine which of those were the top three, the bottom three, and the best dish. Additionally, the duos that perform the worst will be eliminated from the latest episode.

For the Top 3, teams including Tina-Aivan, Zach-Michelle, and Adam-Joel were selected. The best of them was Zack and Michelle. They prepared mussels-frites with green curry broth. Additionally, it featured Nori and lime-dusted fries.

Gordon Ramsay said their dish was "exceptional," while Tiffany said she loved the fries and the mussels were well-cooked.

"Everything about this dish is kind of perfect," said Joe.

The bottom three duos based on their dishes were: Kevin-Trey, Darce-Courtney, and Tonna-Cait. From these three, Kevin and Trey were sent home after their dish failed to impress the judges.

For MasterChef Dynamic Duos Episode 4, Kevin and Trey prepared Cajun seafood pasta. It had scallops, mussels, and shrimp. Gordon Ramsay said the dish was "badly executed."

"It's just badly executed. Never serve mussels that haven't opened - that's a death sentence.

Tiffany mentioned the dish felt a "little thrown together." She also mentioned that it was the dish that she didn't want to "eat again." Joe referred to Kevin and Trey's dish as "epic fail." He also pointed out that there was no teamwork between the two cheftestants.

Hence, with all three judges' reviews considered, Kevin and Trey were eliminated from MasterChef Dynamic Duos. The bestfriend duo had mentioned that if they were to "go down," they would go down "together."
