And Just Like That Season 3 shocked viewers when it was informed that the series will be cancelled after its third season. With only two episodes left, the show has a lot to wrap up and give an ending to Carrie’s story.

A revival and sequel to the famous Sex and the City show, And Just Like That has received mixed reviews over its handling of plot and characters. Even though the show brings back Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis to play their iconic roles of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, respectively, the series could not see the heights of its predecessor.

While the show tries to tackle more mature themes and look at women’s life in their 50s, And Just Like That Season 3, could not find a foundation to carry on its legacy. In the show’s penultimate episode, Carrie reflects upon life as a single woman and how society is averse to the idea. It also looks at how Miranda and Charlotte are dealing with their own family problems.

While Carrie gets together with her writing partner Duncan, he has to leave for London and the show shifts to Thanksgiving. Miranda is hosting a dinner and Carrie is ordering pies, which brings her to her old neighborhood and flat. Now, Lisette, a jewelry designer lives there and when Carrie enters the apartment, she is hit with nostalgia. However, Lisette has completely overhauled the place and Carrie is overwhelmed with past memories and the fact that everything has now changed.

And Just Like That Season 3 Episode 11 puts Carrie’s future up in the air as she hands in her semi-autobiographical historical novel and her editor notes that Carrie’s protagonist, “the woman”, is all alone at the end of the novel. The show explores the idea of a woman being alone as Carrie tells her editor that a woman being alone is not a sad thing. However, the show only floats this line of thought and does not seem to do anything more about it, as observed by Screen Rant.

On the other hand, the episode also looks into the lives of the remaining characters. Herbert is upset about not winning the election and is annoyed with Lisa. Charlotte is emotionally invested seeing Rock play Millie in the high school production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Miranda has a confrontation with Brady as she invites Mia over for Thanksgiving. And Seema tells Adam that she loves him. One of the more interesting moments happen when Giuseppe proposes to Anthony, who says yes at first but then has second thoughts as there is an age gap.

Ultimately, the show’s sudden cancellation has proven that the series had a lot more story to tell but was also fledgling along its way. With Carrie reminiscent over her old apartment and her next step in life, And Just Like That Season 3 seems to be heading towards a bittersweet ending.

And Just Like That is available on HBO Max.
