The latest episode of And Just Like That, Season 3, began with the surprise arrival of Aidan at Carrie's house and concluded with their split. It is revealed that Aidan lived away from Carrie due to his son Wyatt, who ultimately decided to live with his mother, irking Aidan
Living with Carrie does not solve his problems, as he still struggles with trust issues when it comes to Carrie. In Episode 7 of And Just Like That Season 3, we saw how Carrie and her neighbor Duncan had become closer to one another, even giving feedback on each other's new manuscripts.
Their developing friendship made Aidan jealous, which ended up becoming the subject of their latest fight. But it was really the use of the present tense during their argument when he expressed that he still has trust issues that triggered their breakup. It turns out Aidan was still not over Carrie cheating on him with Big. This realisation was heartbreaking for Carrie. She told him she tried everything to save their relationship, but it was still not enough for him.

While talking to the Hollywood Reporter, writers of And Just Like That, Elisa Zuritsky and Julie Rottenberg, talked about their decision to add a popular Taylor Swift breakup song, adding to the permanence of the breakup.
Julie Rottenberg shared:
"We wouldn’t pull that Taylor Swift song out for just anything."
Elisa Zuritsky added to the comment and said:
"We’re not going for ambiguity. It feels pretty permanent."
Since Sex and the City days, we have been aware that it was always Carrie’s cheating that broke Aidan and her relationship the first time. But this time, it was just pure jealousy from Aidan’s side that ended the relationship.
When asked about whether this was the end for Carrie and Aidan, Zuritsky shared that it looks like it, but was still unsure of what the distant future might hold for Carrie and Aidan. She said:
"It feels pretty permanent. But, you know, life is long. Who knows? But, frankly, I don’t think any of us were ready for Carrie to ride off in the sunset with anyone, yet."
