Andor, developed by the prequel series creator Tony Gilroy, is currently streaming on Disney+. Set five years before the events of Rogue One, it serves as a prelude to Rogue One, following Cassian Andor's rise from being a robber to a major player in the Rebel Alliance.

Diego Luna returns as the titular hero, Cassian Andor, and also serves as the show's executive producer. Andor has been praised by critics for its narrative techniques, gripping storyline, and high production quality. The two-season series premiered in 2022 and ended in 2025, earning multiple Emmy nominations.

Major Partagaz, an Imperial Security Bureau official, battles to capture important Rebels and conceal the Death Star's secrets in Andor Season 2. He is called in for punishment, but instead of taking Imperial revenge, he decides to commit suicide. His destiny serves as a metaphor for both the harsh limitations of the Empire and the personal costs of defiance.

Major Partagaz is an important official in the Imperial Security Bureau in Andor Season 2. As per the plot, he would be in charge of finding Rebel operatives, overseeing Dedra Meero. But during the season, Partagaz encounters many obstacles and failures in his efforts to maintain the Empire's rule.

Partagaz is summoned for a disciplinary review at the end of the season after making several serious errors. He understands that he would undoubtedly face harsh punishment for being called by the Emperor.

Over the course of the season, he is unable to apprehend two crucial Rebel operatives, Cassian Andor and Kleya Mark, and above all, he fails to prevent crucial information regarding the Empire's weapon, the Death Star, from falling into the hands of the Rebellion.

Before confronting the repercussions, Partagaz seeks some alone time to contemplate. During this time, he listens to a manifesto prepared by a Rebel named Karis Nemik, which outlines the motivations for the uprising and critiques the Empire's repressive regime. This sequence emphasizes Partagaz's internal conflict and the gravity of his shortcomings.

Although the show does not clearly depict what occurs next, it strongly implies that Partagaz commits suicide. A blaster fire is heard behind the locked door, implying that he killed himself rather than face the punishment that he expects from the Empire's commanders, such as Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine.

Partagaz's choice to take his own life serves as an example of the tremendous strain Imperial officials endure and the dire repercussions of failing under the strict rule of the Empire. This incident highlights the human cost of the continuous struggle between the Empire and the Rebellion and gives Andor a darker, more solemn tone.
